This is the usual practice, when a network invites a guest, it pays to get the guest to the studios and other expenses.

That seems a little more expensive than it should have been, but I wouldn't agree to be on TV in DC unless they paid my travel expenses.

Kind of high. They could have put him on SW for less than a 1000.

the point?

If Fox news wants to interview me, they need to either dispatch a crew to somewhere easy for me to get to, or pay for me to get to them. Seems pretty self-evident.

Well that is pretty serious indeed, he accepted pay for his travel instead of socking it to the taxpayer.. if only he had tried to smuggle official documents away from the public's eyes- by stuffing them in his under-ware.

It could be that they sent a corporate jet for him and his staff. This could be what they say it is worth, since if it was the Fox jet it wouldn't actually "cost" them. It would be an "in-kind" contribution, but would have to be valued.

There is no indication they actually put money in his pocket, and they are a private company, so who really cares how much it cost them to get him on their show, if they wanted him. I'm sure his appearance earned them a bit more than 13,000 in veiwership.

Fox paid for it. As long as none of our tax money went to this it is not a problem.

Fourteen Grand is more than a 1st Class fare ticket cost could possibly be from anywhere in Texas to probably anywhere else in the world, round trip as well.

When you think about it, the Rep is already being paid to be in DC anyhow.

This stinks.

If FOX wants to pay $13,998.55 to fly their guests in for a 10-minute segment, that's their problem.

This story gives a glimpse into the unreal world our politicians live in. We ain't go no elected representatives anymore, we got media celebrity whores. These are the kind of expenses Hollywood celebrities like George Clooney would expect. The MSM and our elected representatives have a symbiotic relationship in which they need each other very badly. These boys and girls who we send to Washington are swimming in lobbyist money and spending every dime the government collects and borrowing like crazy to spend more. Although I believe Delay is victim of an unjust political prosecution, he seems to have spent more time raising money to get people elected than he has spent time effecting the principles to which he and his party pledged to promote.

A couple of months ago, I sat across from Fed Chairman Greenspan on first-class on a flight from Chicago to DC. Of the eight first-class seats, his entourage had six. I know them because I used to work there. How much did this flight cost? Was it a "scandal"? No, because it wasn't a Republican.

Lets see... a senator and a few staff in first class, and a couple nights for them in a DC hotel... with expenses...

Yah? So what?

The smear continues, this is just the latest part. There's also a hit piece in Salon that has an email (probably forged) supposedly from a Delay aide calling conservative Christians "wackos." The RATS will stop at nothing.
