Free speech is now a privilege granted by the government to those who openly speak only the politically correct mantra. It is difficult to find fault with all Dorothy has to say.

Those of us who find we cannot express ourselves openly without possible incarceration to no avail (no one cares) create our own cocoons....I would be interested to know what things the writer wants to say that she feels would lead to incarceration.

The fact is, I do not write a lot now. Six hundred and some articles after going on the internet in 1999, the world and our nation have only gotten worse, and the majority of people seem to care little, especially in America, about how this nation is being torn apart. I question whether they even see the destruction lying around them.Oh cry me the Cuyahoga, will ya? Woe is me! </sarcasm>

The first paragraph doesn't seem to fit in with the rest. It's almost as if she feels obligated to insert it so lefties will read it.
I have to disagree with the idea that the U.S. has always been united in thought, however. We have the Revolutionary War, which required we force some states to cooperate; the Civil War, clearly a divided situation; civil rights, etc. You might say we're constantly divided, but manage to live together anyway.
