Texans Gear Up to Decide on Gay Marriage

AUSTIN, Texas -- Opponents of a proposed constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriages in Texas have a message for you: The proposition could mean trouble for marriage between a man and woman. With telephone calls, e-mails and Internet postings, gay rights activists and others opposed to Proposition 2 are spreading that idea as part of their longshot battle to derail the measure in Tuesday's election. The tactic has supporters of the same-sex marriage ban crying foul. It has opponents boasting that they may have a chance at defeating the measure _ in Texas, of all places, the conservative home state of President Bush. "We are making a horse race out of it for the first time in any state," said Glen Maxey, an openly gay former legislator directing the opposition group No Nonsense in November. It argues the ban could interfere with all marriages. Eighteen states have approved constitutional bans on same-sex marriage. Massachusetts is the only state that has legalized it, while Vermont and Connecticut allow civil unions between same-sex couples. In Texas, the latest round of recorded phone calls by opponents of the proposed ban on same-sex marriage led Texas Supreme Court Justice Nathan Hecht, whose comments were used in one, to issue a public statement Wednesday denouncing the calls as deceptive and false.

I do not support school curriculum which advocates or glamourizes homosexuality. In fact for most grade levels there's no room for this stuff in the first place.

I see normal as a statistical term unless you want to give a religious definition. I believe our government has been concerned with minority rights so that the majority doesn't oppress the minority for at least the last 230 years. What's the point of changing now?

Not societyy's role to reward anything.

Sexual behavior doesn't have to do anything for the future. Are you proposing that people can't get married or have sex if they can't have children?

Tyranny of the majority is a red herring? Whatever you say.

Your first sentence calls on the wishes of the majority. You're repeating the same old incorrect misconception of the rights of people and the role of government. Thanx for playing.

Sexual behavior? A guy shoving himself up another guys backside is not "sex". It's certainly not intercourse. Queers can't have intercourse. That's not news to you, is it?

As far as tyranny of the majority? I've heard that one from the fags for years too. Silly. The majority have decided that murder is deviant behavior and have outlawed that. The list of other such examples is very long.

When you hear something from fags you should always assume it's false. That way you'll always know the truth.

I guess a blow job is not sex either. Who are you, Bill Clinton?

The contracts are still available.

From what we've seen all over the US - especially in San Francisco Valentine's Day 2004 - I'm not sure that we're talking about people who care about contracts and law, just emotivism.

By the way JR Jr. what is homosexualism?

Look at your postings -homosexualism of society it is what you are debating for and advocating when as in post # 62 you state that what one chooses to do sexually merits them minority status... That is just one of the many misnomers that the homosexual activists such as yourself parrot.

The homosexualization of society propaganda and the propagandists are not welcome here on FR...

Take your leftist moral lunacy elsewhere.

Do you have any evidence that people who defy State law for an invalid marriage certificate have any concern for what that certificate means?

Two men have no right to force me, through the mechanism of government, to acknowledge that they are the moral let alone the biological equivalent of a male female union.

No right. None.

It damn well better have something to do for the future.

I don't know what universe you were hatched in, but apparently brains and common sense are rare commodities there.

Begone. Go to ground with your fellow serpents at DU.

Bill Clinton was getting blow jobs from guys?

Queers cannot have sexual intercourse. Coitus is not possible. It's impossible.

You are getting no traction here bud. This site does not cater to the queer agenda. I suggest you find a place more in tune with your "needs".

can't get traction with someone who keeps twisting and turning bud. You say something isn't ses and then I point out that was Bill Clinton's excuse and then you say that wasn't with a guy. That's dishonest or just ignorant for the sake of continuing an argument you lost yesterday.

Please post a list of behaviors that you think are sex, so my wife and I will learn all the new terminology, just because you want to slam some queers.

I think you should start a petition and get me banned. BTW I was once banned for the personal attacks you just did on me. But unlike some, I won't hit the button.

If you think that the sole purpose of sex is to have kids, yoiu've been missing out a lot. But hey, have fun.

I guess claiming benefits bestowed by government acknowledgement of a contract is forcing you to do something. Have you tried psychotherapy for your paranoia?

Well, you've done a nice job of turning rights and freedom from discrimination to somekind of weird strawman. Nice try George Orwell.

If you want homosexuals sent off to Siberia just say so and get on with your attacks of some new group you despise. But don't twist something to what it's not.
