A hunter in Troms in northern Norway could not believe his eyes when he saw the result of a single shot.
When the hunter reached the male moose felled with a perfect shot, the partners in his group spotted another trail of blood, newspaper Nordlys reports. They followed this to a dead female.
"I must say that I was appalled when I saw the cow," the hunter, who wished to remain anonymous, told the newspaper.
The shot appeared to have hit the first animal in the heart as planned, and managed to make two remarkable entries and one exit between the ribs of both moose.
The shooting of the second animal put the team over their quota, and the animal was confiscated and the incident reported to the police.
Hunters must train to avoid such situations, but the man said the moose were standing in a thicket such that he could not spot and count the legs. The local county wildlife administrator said that 'two for one' incidents were very rare, and found only one such episode from 11 years ago.
Bill Clinton on his wedding day?
The hunters also hit a woman who was carving her initials in the moose with the sharpened end of an interspace toothbrush given to her by her brother, Svenge, an Oslo dentist and star of many adult movies.
The JFK magically zigging and zagging bullet?
IDIOT! If you can't see what you're shooting - DON'T!
Reminds me of Mr. M's experience with two city dudes out on their first deer hunt. They came into the sheriff's office wanting to know where the newspaper office was so they could get a picture of their first kill; an albino buffalo. Not that it wasn't albino buffalo season but that wouldn't have mattered since they'd shot the rancher's prize brahma bull.
Holy Moly!
Lee Harvey Oswald is ALIVE!
"confiscated"? Or eaten at the police station?
Should not have taken the shot. Another hunter could have been standing where the cow was.
Exactly. He deserves to pay a fine for going over limit and have his hunting privileges temporarily revoked. He made a mistake, to be sure, but it is a mistake that could have been avoided.
ROTFLOL! That one caught me by surprise!
And if I got caught by surprise on a moose thread, it means I need coffee!
Honest, officer, I only shot once. And the dog ate my proof of this.
I'm surprised that the topic of cheese hasn't been brought up yet.
I didn't know you could eat moose.
And that's all I got to say about that -FG
Back in the late 70s, I was with a party hunting Mule deer in Wyoming. We had doe tags and a doe was dropped with a scoped 30-06. When we got up to the deer, we found a young (hunch it was born in the previous spring) buck dead that was completely blocked from sight by her body. The bullet went thru the doe and took the buck as well.
I have my suspicions this happens more often than is reported.
Indeed you can!! :-)
I shot a Moose (cow tag thank God, never saw a bull the whole hunt) on Union pass in Wyoming. Great eats!

Moose is good food. One of my kids favorite meals is moose meat stew. Thankfully, I have a BIL who gets one almost every year.
