Pressure mounted on French Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin's government to move quickly to restore order as violence broke out in the suburbs of Paris for the seventh night running. The French government leader canceled a trip to Canada yesterday to tackle the spreading unrest in areas with large African and Muslim populations, and to quell a damaging dispute among his ministers over how to respond. Last night, youths went on a rampage in nine areas in poor suburbs ringing the French capital to the north and the east, setting on fire about 40 cars, two buses and trash cans, as well as causing damage to at least one school and a shopping center. Hundreds of police were deployed to control the disturbances, with some units diverted from a soccer match. One trade union representing policemen described the unrest as a "civil war" and called on Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy to impose a curfew in areas that have been affected by the violence to ensure that the violence did not spiral out of control.

Doubtful. Look at Holland after the Van Gogh murder. UK after the London bombings.
It's only France that won't wake up and smell the falafel. People study the Crusades and say, "Wow, those nasty Christians went medieval on those poor, peace-loving Muslims. . ."
What they fail to teach in history is that during the prior 500 years the Muslims marched through North Africa and completely took over what is today Spain and Portugal. The only thing that stood between the rest of Europe and the Muslims were Charles Martel and a badly outnumbered group of Frankish warriors, that were at best only loosely affiliated.
Muslims haven't changed philosophically in 1400 years. Why Europe has to keep relearning this every 600 years or so is evidence that Americans aren't as stupid as Europeans depict them to be.
As for bailing out France, I don't think that's going to happen this time after all that has transpired. Let Canada and Germany bail them out.
Send New Orleans Mayor Nagin and Police Chief Compass over there to get these riots under control.
Sorry, but I feel bad for the French Jews. I can't imagine the fear that they are experiencing. Acts of anti-Semitism have been increasing over the last couple of years in France.
Maybe 2 years ago, I read an article in Vanity Fair about how some Jews were starting to speak out, make noise. They were criticized for being too "American" in their behavior. I don't think they were going to stop, though.
Muslim attacks on Europe continued long after Martel's time. During the ninth and tenth centuries they laid waste to much of southern France. There was an Arab mini-state investing the Alps and southern France from a base at Fraxinetum, north of Marseilles. This page has some information.
It was only when Muslim raiders kidnapped the Abbot of Cluny in 972 AD that the Christian warlords and princes of the time united against them and drove them out.
Right. There always needs to be some very expensively-reached tipping point.
>>> Instead of seven or eight separate barrio riots there may soon come a night when 100 go off simultaneously all over Europe..

20 Towns tonight.
In other words, it's the beginning of the Jihad in France we've been anticipating.
Right now, it's just plain hooliganism. Wait until the imams start their demagoguery in the mosques and it turns into a bona fide religious civil war over there.
Even if the 30 million illegals now here "doing work Americans don't want to do" are something we can live with, what about their kids?
You mean like moving to California, refusing to speak English, calling it Azatlan, flying the Mexican flag and loudly proclaiming that the USA stole the land from The Race?
Exactly!
