Also Wednesday, the operators of The Free Republic Web site told the 11 News I-Team that they are now considering their legal options because their policy prohibits their Web site users to share account information with a third party, something MD4Bush apparently did.

The editor said the reporter was trying to authenticate the online exchanges between MD4Bush and Steffen, and did not participate in the actual postings.

Why would you need somebody's password to "authenticate" their postings?

Perhaps JimRob can get his money back from the WaPo.

And bitch-slap them for doing the same or worse than they accused FR of doing.

This is getting real good!

The private freepmail was posted on a thread. Could the person who posted publicly be not MD4Bush but the Washington Post writer trying to set up a ruse for the method of his discovery?

It appears the Washington Post reporter logged in as MD4Bush in order to read the freepmail exchange.

I'm not really sure that there's anything that FR can do about that as a legal matter. They could certainly use their policy to ban MD4Bush, something which hasn't been done yet.

It is rather ironic, though, that the Washington Post, which sued FR for copyright infringement, has no problem with violating FR's stated policies.

Perhaps "ironic" is too gentle.

It could get very interesting if one or more newspapers are exposed in a conspiracy against the sitting Governor of Maryland, along with MD4BUSH and his/her accomplices?

Another Dan Rather story?

Improperly sharing out login credentials is, if I understand all of this correctly, the very least that was done.

The thought occurs to me that if MD4Bush violated FR policy by sharing account information with a third party(FR user agreement section below):

User Account Confidentiality: User agrees to protect user's account and password and not to disclose account information to any third party.

Why should FR be bound to continue to protect MD4Bush's information?

Considering many of us weren't familiar with this story until today, and FR is getting major press, a WIKI would be useful.

A word to the wise:

When someone you don't know well tries to engage you in the exchange of PM's or emails, watch out. This person may be trying to learn your identity for nefarious purposes.

I've had some trolls do this with me on FR, but I was ahead of their game.

MD4BUSH SPREAD RUMOURS THAT MARYLAND SEN BARBARA MIKULSKI IS A LESBIAN. THIS IS A FACT INGNORED BY EVERY STORY DONE ABOUT THIS AFFAIR. WHY IS IT WRONG FOR STEFFEN TO ACHIEVE A POLITICAL GOAL SPREADING SEXUAL INNUENDO ABOUT OMALLY... BUT ITS OK FOR A DEM OPERATIVE TO "OUT" MIKULSKI (attempting to warm up to Steffen) TO ACHIEVE A POLITICAL GOAL????

(Pardon my posting this on all MD4BUSH threads but I'm hoping some media type will call Mikulski's office for her feelings on being used in such a way by a fellow democrat.)
