Court says parents not sole providers of kids' sex education

A federal appeals court on Wednesday dismissed a lawsuit by elementary school parents who were outraged that the Palmdale School District had surveyed students about sex.

While the surveys asked students how often they thought about sex, among other questions, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said parents of public school children have no "fundamental right" to be the exclusive provider of sexual information to their children. The parents maintained they had the sole right "to control the upbringing of their children by introducing them to matters of and relating to sex."

The plaintiffs had sought unspecified monetary damages.

In upholding a lower court that had also ruled against the parents, a three-judge panel of the appeals court here dismissed the case, ruling unanimously that "parents are possessed of no constitutional right to prevent the public schools from providing information on that subject to their students in any forum or manner they select."

It doesn't belong in ANY school. Not this issue that's for sure. My mom and dad made sure they were the providers of this kind of teaching. They would ALWAYS preview the material if there was a sex ed program. Sometimes we were kept out of it, sometimes not. When we were allowed to go through the class, there were both abstinence and non-absitinence based ones. It wasn't a big deal because we had been taught properly by our parents and we were strong in our values. We (all eight children) were able to deal with things in the very few times there were conflicts. Not one of us ever had pre-marital sex.

For the fifth graders here, it is done AFTER school for one day, boys and girls being separate and the students attending with parents. The class is not taught by any teachers or school personnel. It has never been much of an issue.

It's all about encouraging homosexuality. And remember the two recent cases in Florida where female teachers were having sex with female students they taught. It isn't surprising considering how far the homosexuals have intruded into schools. More and more girls are having homosexual sex and being proud of it. Public schools have become the gateway to promoting the homosexual agenda. Get them when they're young and they'll be yours forever. And look at the TV shows geared to teens - most, if not all, have a homosexual angle. Public schools have become an embarrassment and I applaud those who home school their children.

It isn't surprising considering how far the homosexuals have intruded into schools. More and more girls are having homosexual sex and being proud of it. I believe the media is driving this a lot like you said, that's for sure. More and more ADULT women are hooking up so to speak.

I am a public school teacher and it hasn't come near my school yet. If it did, I would fight it tooth and nail. I certainly see a great many good things that happen among all the negative that is more likely to get promoted.

I like first grade language. There is no misunderstanding by what is meant. Very helpful for message boards when you can't read body language or hear tone of voice.

Too many like to use BIG WORDS or run on sentences to 'sound' smarter. Not many pay thoses posts any mind and point of post is lost.

It's what I have to speak every day. I don't have the gift of words or the knowledge that some people do. I just try to state what I think in a common sense sort of way, though sometimes, I break out the one-liners, the BS, or the puns when I get in a stupid mood.

Life is too short to take yourself too seriously too. I can poke fun at myself all day if needs be. I find that many things in life aren't worth making a hissyfit over and that many problems can be solved rather easily if both parties are a little flexible (this is NOT in regards to this issue here). Luckily the parents of my students already know that I am extremely mistake-prone and make a LOT of them. I am grateful that they are a patient lot. I try to take the same approach.

There is another option in extreme cases, and it's getting to be an extreme case with some of these jerks in black.

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

Man, that's the SECOND time you've used my picture. How many times do I have to tell you that I'm not ape over that picture. I'm using the wrong lipstick. I'm not a chimp off the old block anyways, maybe the new one, but not the old one. That picture smacks anyways. I prefer the smooch because I'm such a good smoocher and get money from my friends every day. I'm not going to "lay one on" the table anyways. That picture can just "kiss" off. :)
