Aaron Brown is out at CNN, and Anderson Cooper will take over Browns 10 p.m. time slot, effective Monday.
The shakeup comes as a result of some prime time scheduling moves that CNN made official Wednesday. Cooper will take his 7 p.m. showcase, Anderson Cooper 360°, to the 10-midnight spot, formerly occupied by Browns NewsNight. Coopers old spot will be filled by an additional hour of The Situation Room, hosted by Wolf Blitzer.
In a memo to staffers, CNN president Jon Klein said the veteran anchor will be leaving CNN and is very much looking forward to some well-deserved time off with his family.
Since mid-September, Brown and Cooper had been paired on NewsNight, as Klein sought to capitalize on Coopers surge in popularity in the wake of his coverage of Hurricane Katrinas aftermath.
Brown joined CNN in 2001 and first came to prominence with his on-air reporting from New York on Sept. 11 of that year. Cooper joined CNN as a weekend anchor in December 2001 and began hosting Anderson Cooper 360° in March 2003.
In his note to staffers, Klein said praised Brown for his stellar work as an anchor, adding there is no question that he will be missed.
Things that make you go "Hmmmmmm....".
How about POOPER SCOOPER?
Should be COOPER SCOOPER He prefers the pooper. Toppers welcome.
ha ha...good one.
Speaking of the dreaful Greta, maybe he just plain quit?
Knowing that he couldn't compete with her was enough to try another career. Imagine having a lower rated show than the worse show on cable.
what annoyed the hell out of me is he would always have radical left wing guests on and never even attempt to have someone from the other side.

But that's typical of most CNN shows.
Hey, maybe they can lure away Geraldo Rivera. Or did he already work for them at least once???? (being sarcastic here)
That's been a common practice at CNN. In the old days, CNN would pit 4 liberals against one conservative to give the impression they're balanced. But, it was sometimes fun to see the one lonely conservative smack down 4 liberals at once.
He's the most vile Liberal ever to grace the idiot box, on a channel that is equally vile and liberal. His show simply sucked. He sacked himself.
Given how the NYT and CNN have treated Geraldo with their fabricated lies, I doubt Geraldo would entertain CNN's offer.
Gloria who?
Very subtle.LOL.
Good gravey. Clones..
LOL
He'd just get them later, like Louis Freeh. After Brown's interview with LF, Coop asked "what was it like to interview him?" AB: "a little defensive" then moved on to a belittling of what he said.
THAT said. . dont let the door hit you on the way out. . .
My memory is sometimes wacky but I think I remember Aaron Brown from ABC Overnight several years ago. He was paired up with Thalia Assures and since it was overnight and before cable was big the audience was mostly just people who couldn't sleep and their show beat watching infomercials. They actually were very funny...or I was very, very tired. That was before they both became "real" journalists and had to spew the lib line.
But, but...He's the FACE OF CNN!!!!!!! How will they ever get along without him?????
Heh.
Gloria Vanderbilt.
His mommy.
Hail to the queen!
Is that right?! I did NOT know that.
Aaron will be leaving CNN and is very much looking forward to some well-deserved time off with his family.
THIS JUST IN...ARRON BROWN'S FAMILY SUDDENLY DISAPPEARS...developing
