DUMPY FRUMP A FASHION DISASTER (why don't they leave the poor girl alone, already)
NY POST ^ | 11/2/05 | ORLA HEALY

Diana would be amused. Her successor and former rival, Camilla Parker Bowles, failed spectacularly in her attempt to wow Manhattan society with her sartorial splendor last night.

Dressed in an unflattering Anthony Price navy velvet frock with a fussy oversized chiffon collar, the Duchess of Cornwall arrived at a chi-chi cocktail party looking more like an escapee from the choirboy pew of Westminister Abbey than the guest of honor.

Earlier, Camilla caused quite a stir when she chose an eye-popping raspberry suit for her visit to Ground Zero.

We predict an "off-with-their-heads" ruling to come down on the core team who were supposed to create the "Camilla Chic" glamour on this trip..... and "a secret dresser," whose identity is fast becoming a gag in fashion circles.

"monarchy is just another form of tyranny"

this family stands only as a 'figure head'. . .that said. . .what kind of tyranny rules in Monaco these days?

"It truly must be love."

Calls to mind the orchestrated l o n g 'kiss' between hot (sarcasm/off) Tipper and big Al. . .

Now THAT was a couple and a moment; the sight of which was enough to make the strongest stomach. . .turn.. .

"The argument that it wouldn't be Britain without a monarchy is like saying Africa wouldn't be Africa without Malaria. "

We do not have a monarchy-like, 'family tradition' so we created one;

. . . and for sure, we could do without the Kennedy's the same as we could do without 'Bird Flu'. . .but. . .many American's would be sooooo sad.

. . .and (tin foil hats aside) Diana was not left in a river. . .nor was Charles driving.

I'm not to defend or accuse anyone here but, IMHO:
1. Charles is not that handsome, either... they go well together.
2. Diana was a very young woman when she married Charles... much too young for him and the role she acquired with the marriage.
3. Had he been allowed to marry Camilla in the first place, several things would have been probable:
-he would have not been an adulterer
-Camilla would have not been an adulterer
-Diana would have not been an adulterer
-Diana would have probably had the chance of developing not into a Royal Princess, but probably a happier person -and maybe even would be alive today.
4.I don't think she gives a hoot about us or our opinion.

"In a nation where divorce is rampant it boggles the mind why so many are revulsed by a couple [who were always in love] finding happiness in a second marriage."

Meant to include that in earlier response. . .

. . .it surely bears repeating.

I guess my real puzzlement is why anyone really cares ... and, certainly, emotions rising to the level of hatred are beyond my comprehension when the people are so irrelevant to our lives. Maybe if I were a Brit it might be different. Wish 'em well ... and let 'em be.

Ok, for whatever reason she and Charles couldn't get married the first time even though all indications are they was in love before he married Diana. I don't know what protocol preventing them from marrying and at this point I really don't care.

From what little I've read her husband knew she was in love with Charles and the twit chose to marry her anyway. Diana sensed they were in love otherwise she wouldn't have commented about Camilla being a ghost like presence in their bedroom.

I don't condone adultery. All 4 of them made their decisions and married elsewhere for their own personal reasons.

And yeah, Diana looked the part of a princess (even though she had enough mental problems to scare the frog from kissing her).

Is Camilla a raving beauty? No, but then there aren't many truly beautiful women out there. Case in point...Camilla is involved in horses, did anyone ever see Diana on a horse much less look as if she'd fed, watered, brushed down or ridden a horse. Oh no! Camilla has been caught looking natural and approachable, kind of human like.

Diana on the other hand always looked oh so dressed for the occasion whether it be in a picture snapped as she was coming from the gym or whether it be at a 'function'.

IMO, Camilla does not look frumpy in her raspberry colored suit. She looks entirely appropriate for the occasion. She looks a heck of a lot better than Princess Margaret could even dream of looking.

As far as the navy evening gown, I'd have to see a full length picture of it to see what I thought about how it looked on her. Maybe it did make her look 25 pounds heavier but at least she looked healthy instead of anorxic.

Goodness knows there are plenty of Americans (and English too) who couldn't hold a candle to Camilla. Some of her detractors about her looks should themselves take a look in an undistorted mirror.

IN an ideal world, once they made the decision to marry their respective spouses, they should have honored their wedding vow. It's too bad they made a mess of it and committed adultery because adultery hurts people other than the one's actually adultering. (Is that a real world?)

despite the fact that 'Charles' has gone over the top with his 'Green' concerns and his Islamic PC. . .

This is so hypocritical, if he in fact starts in with this. What type of approval would his mother have given her ex daughter in law, had the relationship had a chance to become something. A Royal involved with a Muslim in which the Muslim could potentially have been the future King's step father in law? Yes, that would have been widely accepted.

That picture looks like a 1970's high school graduation picture. Off the shoulder drape, pearls and with a Farah Fawcett flip.

You're right on with #1,2 and 4. Out of fairness, though, they are not adulterers now, though they once were. As far as we know, they are only adulterating with each other now. That doesn't change your other points, of course. :-)
