DUMPY FRUMP A FASHION DISASTER (why don't they leave the poor girl alone, already)
NY POST ^ | 11/2/05 | ORLA HEALY

REGAL ROSES: Bearing flowers, Charles and Camilla visit Hanover Square, where they left a tribute to British 9/11 victims. Photo: AFP/Getty

Diana would be amused. Her successor and former rival, Camilla Parker Bowles, failed spectacularly in her attempt to wow Manhattan society with her sartorial splendor last night.

Dressed in an unflattering Anthony Price navy velvet frock with a fussy oversized chiffon collar, the Duchess of Cornwall arrived at a chi-chi cocktail party looking more like an escapee from the choirboy pew of Westminister Abbey than the guest of honor.

Earlier, Camilla caused quite a stir when she chose an eye-popping raspberry suit for her visit to Ground Zero.

We predict an "off-with-their-heads" ruling to come down on the core team who were supposed to create the "Camilla Chic" glamour on this trip..... and "a secret dresser," whose identity is fast becoming a gag in fashion circles.

Before you criticise the Royal family, ask yourself how many Presidents have put their country before their own and their families personal safety as our monarchy have done for a thousand years.

Quite a few. Of course, they weren't Presidents yet, but then that happens when you have to get elected.

The relevant comparison is to the PMs.

The Royal family are net earners for the UK economy. The figures clearly show that they generate 9 times in tourism what they cost to run. A very good deal for all involved whilst providing the UK with the ability to separate our titular head of state from the messy business of politics.

Eff 'em... we don't have royalty here. If they want to be fawned all over, they should have stayed home.

In England these two live in a castle. In the US these two would live in a trailer park.

"The figures clearly show that they generate 9 times in tourism what they cost to run."

Where did you get those figures?

Dress is okay but that smile makes her look like someone just stepped on her toe.

Keep in mind, she is of British Blue Blood... haven't met one yet that didn't look stiff.

I think the dress looks terrible.

I would love to hear some examples of US Presidents and their families being involved in the sort of examples I quoted you, that is leading from the front, not from a desk. I don't doubt they did it, I just can't find reference to any.

The relevant comparison would not be PM's as they are not head of state and we have only had PM's for a few hundred years, we have had monarchs for 1200 years as England and some 3000 years before the regions became one nation.

So that made it ok for him to make her believe that he loved her and then proceed with his affair while honeymooning?

Sounds like a good way to treat an already fragile person.

Wait a minute...

her husband is a fool, but that applies to many people.

The only thing I ever admired about that fop Charles was that he was steadfast in his love for the somewhat plain older woman, instead of his glamorous wife.

Love these fashion threads where we sit at home in jammies or old sweat pants and criticize others.

I'm serious!

I hated the neckline on the dress. Low necklines are not flattering on older women.

Plus, I see way too much boob showing on tv. Someone supposedly portraying a judge (think Amy) dresses in pants so tight you'd think they'd cut off circulation and way low necklines.

They put attractive women in high positions on television and then have them dress like they were standing on the street corner lookin' for bidness.
