Pilot Reports Bird Strike Shortly After Takeoff

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- A bird strike forced a United Airlines flight to make an emergency landing just after takeoff from Sacramento International Airport Thursday.

United flight 502 was headed for Denver but had to turn back after the jet's nose cone was dented in a collision with a bird.

The pilot made an emergency landing fearing the bird may have also damaged an engine.

OAKLAND, Calif. -- Two liquor stores in Oakland were trashed by about a dozen men wearing suits and bow ties, police said.
