From http://www.nu.nl/news/638314/10/%27M...sen_in_vliegtuig_Hirsi_Ali%27.html (Dutch only)
Danish police arrested two men in Copenhagen who carried razors and a toy gun and wanted to board a plane with Dutch liberal MP Ayaan Hirsi Ali on board (the one who made the film together with murdered Theo van Gogh). [..] The pilot of the KLM plane had been warned that two men with 'Arab looks' and 'heavy luggage and hand luggage' would enter the plane.
The pilot commented on the luggage, after which a skirmish started at the door of the plane. The Danish airport police then removed the two men. In the luggage, old-style foldable razors and the fake gun were found. After the removal of the two men, Hirsi Ali boarded.
It is not clear if the men were after Hirsi Ali. The Danish police released the men the following day, after which they continued their journey to AMS. According to the police it was an "unfortunate coincidence of suspect circumstances" and there was no danger of a terror act. It is unknown whether the arrested men were Dutch or whether they are still in the Netherlands.

Copying post: Gunfire at MIA (Miami Airport)
Just was on the phone with a FA for AA and apparently there were shots fired inside one of the jetbridges at the D terminal at MIA. Does anybody have any information? http://www.airliners.net/discussions/general_aviation/read.main/2477034/

Local NBC affiliate reports shots fired inside a grounded plane and one person injured inside the plane...
should be interesting to see how this develops...

Quite a few airliner incidents these past few days. I would look for this Miami incident to disappear from the news. Upcoming holiday travel season...airline CEO's looking to cash their end of the year bonus checks...stock prices...etc.

The price of gold is through the roof, up over $50 per oz in the past month. In conjunction with the re-release of the Al-Zwahiri tape, I have a stronger feeling than ever that something is planned for before the end of the year.

Detention upheld as terror suspect called 'a danger': Syrian Hassan Almrei
Stewart Bell, National Post:
TORONTO - An imprisoned Syrian terror suspect who has attracted the support of peace activists lost his bid for freedom yesterday when a judge ruled his release would put Canadians at risk. The Federal Court of Canada judge ruled that Hassan Almrei's long-standing involvement in Islamic extremism and the false documents trade justified his continued detention on national security grounds
Mr. Almrei is one of six alleged foreign terrorist group members fighting deportation from Canada. The Syrian, who came to Canada in 1999 as a refugee claimant, was arrested in Toronto in 2001 after the Canadian Security Intelligence Service alleged he was part of a Sunni extremist network. He initially denied the allegations against him, but later explained he had taken part in paramilitary activities in Afghanistan until 1995. He maintained he is a not a follower of Osama bin Laden or his cause, but the judge disagreed. "I have determined that Mr. Almrei has adopted the Islamic extremist ideology of Osama bin Laden, as that term is defined today, and that he participated in a network in forged documentation," the judge ruled. "His participation in jihad has long been established." Even if Mr. Almrei is not himself violent, he "has the potential to facilitate the movement of others who also harbour such beliefs and ideals and to position them to perpetuate violence on foreign or Canadian soil," wrote the judge. "The threat is substantial and serious."

OMG - the shots were fired on board the plane
http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory?id=1382265
the breaking alert at ABC states that it was the air marshall who fired the shots.
Yep, watching now...

Sure!
Definitely an unusual combination but we're going to enjoy every minute of it. Too bad it's not a little closer to Christmas but it didn't stop me from going out shopping for a few gifts.
Nothing like cold weather to rev up the holiday spirit!! Reminded me of my first winter in Wyoming. I had no winter clothes so I was shopping in the middle of the first snow storm. :) Thankfully I still have that fabulous jacket and hat I bought that day.
The very first snowfall of the season is by far the most beautiful.
Enoy your soup and book. Any good reading recommendations?
Hi BC...a few too many recent odd incidents...and all of the gold guru's can't explain the how and why of this huge spike in gold prices. I hope that all is well with you and yours...especially your new little wee one.
Gunfire on American Airlines plane in Miami 15 minutes ago
MIAMI (Reuters) - A federal law enforcement officer fired his gun on a passenger jetway leading to an American Airlines Corp. plane at Miami International Airport on Wednesday,
CNN reported a passenger who was posing a threat was injured by the gunshot.
American flight 924, a Boeing 757, arrived from Medellin, Colombia, at 12:16 p.m. local time, according to an American Airline's spokesman. The flight was due to leave for Orlando at 2:18 p.m.
"There has been a shooting on the plane," Miami-Dade County Police spokeswoman Mary Walters said. She had no further information but initial reports from Miami said the shooting had taken place on the plane.

"Three Former Logan Ticket Agents Arrested for Currency Smuggling and Laundering"
PR Newswire US
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "BOSTON, Dec. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Three women who worked as ticket counter representatives for a major commercial airline at Logan International Airport have been arrested on charges that they laundered U.S. currency and smuggled cash out of the United States to the Dominican Republic."
Suspect dead on the plane Miami shooting incident?
I missed this because I can't stand watching Fox anymore. I've been out shopping and wrapping gifts and enjoying the weather.
I really wonder why an Air Marshall would have to fire on someone onboard a plane full of passengers? Are there any updates?
