The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Navy sinks Palestinian boat off the shore of Gaza

An Israel Navy ship sank a Palestinian boat off the shore of the Gaza Strip early Saturday morning.

The small Palestinian craft, designed to carry one or two people, was apparently attempting to re-enter - without permission - Palestinian waters after leaving them, Army Radio reported.

Despite repeated calls from the navy to stop, the Palestinians continued sailing.

At this point, shots were fired at the navy ship from the direction of the Gaza shore.

Seeing that the Palestinian boat was trying to escape, the navy opened fire and sank it. The fate of the boat's passengers was unknown.

I think they have so many calls, that they cannot handle them all, and let the small stuff slide.

There is an Officer in Denver on the radio, he says the Denver Police Department is the same size today, as it was 30 years ago, and there are many times as many residents, as there was when his dad went to work for the police 30 years ago...

Now that is scary.

I know Las Vegas, only very recently, managed to get a tax passed, that will be used for hiring more Officers.

It was a nasty fight to get it passed. The Sheriff is KDWN once a month, on the early program and he sounds like he is a good Officer, well liked and not affraid to answer questions from the callers.

All these PC laws, have ham strung the police, in all departments, it has also forced them to hide the work they do and will cause trouble down the road, as now they have to hide to gather information........giving more power to the bad ones.

I can't blame you for leaving. I still love this state, and it kills me to see the crypto-communists running it into the ground. However, there's still a strong undercurrent of individualism here. Last year we passed Ballot Measure 37 by a strong margin. It basically said that if the government rezones your land or restricts you from using it in any way, they have to pay you for your losses. Of course, the goal of the measure was not to have landowners paid, it was to get the government to stop stealing our land through "green" laws, urban growth boundaries, and that other crap. Well, guess what happened to the measure? A black-robed tyrant recently declared the measure unconstitutional. However, people aren't laying down to take it. There's a well-organized campaign to recall the judge who made the ruling. I really hope this happens so that we can put a tiny amount of fear into King Court.

#3 leader killed in Pakistan:

‘Senior Al Qaeda commander killed ’

PESHAWAR, Dec 2: A senior Al Qaeda commander has been killed in the Thursday missile attack at a house in the North Waziristan Agency, sources said.

The sources said that Al Qaeda operational commander Hamza Rabia, said to be of Syrian origin, was among the five killed in the missile attack on a mud-house in Asoray village in Mirali tehsil, to the east of North Waziristan’s regional headquarters, Miranshah.

Officials and tribal witnesses said that among those killed were three foreigners of Middle-Eastern origin. While the administration in Miranshah claimed the casualties were the result of an explosion inside the house, tribal witnesses insist that a hail of missiles fired from unmanned air vehicle struck the house at around 1.45 am.

A drone is usually armed with two hellfire missiles and judging from the six explosions, the locals claimed they had heard, it is possible that more than two UAVs took part in the Thursday’s action.

The sources said that Hamza, who carried the local alias of Nawab to disguise his identity, was among those killed but his body as well of two other foreign militants were quickly taken away by their comrades and buried at an undisclosed location.

Hamza had escaped a similar attack at his location in Mosaki in Mirali on Nov 5 that had left eight people dead including his wife and children. Hamza was said to have been slightly wounded in the leg.

The authorities then had also attributed the incident to an explosion caused by an improvised explosive device.

Yes, I had read part of it, it made me sick.

How could any mother join the very people who are glad her son is dead? It has to be out and out insanity.

A few months ago, there was a liberal mother, who went to Iraq to protest the war and help the terrorists, her son was there at the time in the military.

My mind could not wrap around that article.

In the course of one week, New York Market in West Oakland has been vandalized and set afire, and its owner reported being kidnapped. On Wednesday, police said someone broke into the burned-out building overnight and looted what was left of the stock, including beer and cereal.

The burglary was discovered shortly after 4 a.m. during a check of the store at 3446 Market St., said Officer Danielle Bowman, an Oakland police spokeswoman.

The extent of the loss was unknown, but much of the store's merchandise already had been ruined by a fire that was reported at 1:19 a.m. Monday. Investigators say the blaze appeared to be arson.

The State Security Forces are on maximum alert. According to today’s El Mundo newspaper, the recent detention of men who are alleged to be linked to Al Qaeda and who were trying to exchange drugs for Goma 2 explosives, could have been related to what the Spanish Secret Service, the CNI, believe are two sleeping Islamist cells based in Logroño and Vitoria.
The security services think the groups could be merely waiting for instructions. The security services have called for a planned Islamic Centre not to be built in La Rioja.

It will be interesting to see if that call is heeded.

"Five terrorists and two civilians among eight persons killed in Jammu and Kashmir"

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "According to Daily Excelsior, three Pakistani terrorists were killed in an encounter with the security forces (SFs) near Anchar Lake in the Soura area of Srinagar on December 2. The Israel Defense Forces carried out a successful test of the Arrow anti-missile system on Thursday in a secret location in the center of the country, the army said.

The Arrow batteries intercepted a ballistic test missile and destroyed it in what experts described as the most complicated interception test carried out by the military so far.

Around 10:30 a.m. Israel time, the Arrow system was activated to intercept a long range ballistic test missile of sophisticated maneuvering capabilities. The test missile was intercepted and destroyed.

The army said preparations for the complicated maneuver had been going on for a long time, refuting any connection between Iran’s nuclear activity and the Arrow test.

Security officials told Ynet that Israel can never be content with the Arrow system which is constantly being upgraded to have better interception capabilities.

“We are in a continuous process of developing the (Arrow) system in line with the developments in our region,” a senior official said.

“We have the Iranian threat but also the Syrian threat, with the country possessing Scud missiles of the improved D range, and this obligates us to constantly improve the system,” the official added."
