What's become of bin Laden since he gave us all the slip?
Full Story

Some think he is dead, others that he is hiding because he is scared of being killed.

Whatever the reason for the strange disappearance of Osama bin Laden, not seen alive since his last mocking video statement a year ago, he is no longer the face of the global "jihad" against the West.

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi { TM 25,TM 27 }, the Jordanian responsible for some of the worst atrocities in Iraq, has become the hero of the hour on militant Islamist websites.

I ping articles out with news like that on the Moral Absolutes Ping list.

It seems to me that the cultural degradation and hatred towards religious expression and basic morality which is based on universal religious principles is being attacked with increasing viciousness. Even in the last month or two it seems to be getting worse.

Those of us who pray need to be praying hard.

And here is something that seems to escape most media attention:

""Communities turning inwards, problems integrating into society and religious excesses must be tackled." "Our immediate operational priority remains the administrative and judicial neutralisation of Islamist networks and activists."

Bangladesh arrests 6 militants, on alert before rally [ROP]
Reuters ^ | 19 Nov 2005

Posted on 11/18/2005 11:16:36 PM PST by ncountylee

DHAKA, Nov 19 (Reuters) - Police in Bangladesh said on Saturday they had arrested six suspected Islamist militants, including a son-in-law of the suspected mastermind of a series of bomb attacks around the country this year.

The arrests were made on Friday in northwestern Thakurgaon area.

One of those detained identified himself as the son-in-law of Shayek Abdur Rahman, leader of the outlawed Islamist group Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen, which is blamed for a wave of country-wide bombings on Aug 17, police said.

Bangladesh is on heightened alert for more violence and bombings ahead of a major opposition rally next Tuesday.

The main opposition party, the Awami League, said police had detained nearly 100 young party leaders and activists over the last two days, trying to foil the rally.

Islamist militants are demanding the introduction of sharia-based Islamic rule in democratic Bangladesh, the world's third most populous Muslim country after Indonesia and Pakistan.

DEFENDANT PLEADS GUILTY TO THREATENING DETROIT
MEMBERS OF THE ISLAMIC CENTER OF AMERICA

The Justice Department today announced that Michael Bratisax pleaded guilty in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan to violating the civil rights of members of the Islamic Center of America, located in Detroit, Michigan.

In May 2004, Bratisax sent an e-mail from his home computer in New York to the Islamic Center of America threatening to kill Muslims. Bratisax made this threat with the intent to intimidate and frighten the members of the Islamic Center from practicing their religion.

“The Justice Department is committed to protecting our diverse religious heritage against acts of criminal bigotry,” said Wan J. Kim, Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division. “All American families have the right to worship where they choose, undisturbed by intimidation and racist threats.”

The guilty plea results from an investigation by the Detroit Field Office of the FBI, the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Michigan, and the Civil Rights Division of the United States Department of Justice.

SIX DEFENDANTS PLEAD GUILTY IN INTERNET IDENTITY THEFT AND CREDIT CARD FRAUD CONSPIRACY

Shadowcrew Organization Was Called ‘One-Stop Online Marketplace For Identity Theft’

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Six men who administered and operated the “Shadowcrew.com” website-one of the largest online centers for trafficking in stolen credit and bank card numbers and identity information-pleaded guilty today in federal court, the Department of Justice and U.S. Attorney’s office for the District of New Jersey announced today.

The one-stop online marketplace operated by the defendants was taken down in October 2004 by the U.S. Secret Service, closing an illicit business that trafficked in at least 1.5 million stolen credit and bank card numbers that resulted in losses in excess of $4 million.

Andrew Mantovani, 23, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; Kim Taylor, 47, of Arcadia, Calif.; Jeremy Stephens, 31, of Charlotte, N.C.; Brandon Monchamp, 22, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; Omar Dhanani, 22, of Fountain Valley, Calif.; and Jeremy Zielinski, 22, of Longwood, Fla., entered guilty pleas to the lead count of conspiracy before U.S. District Judge William J. Martini. Judge Martini scheduled sentencings in late February and early March.

The defendants admitted their respective roles in the online conspiracy to commit credit and bank card fraud, as well as identification document fraud. Mantovani also pleaded guilty to a second count of unlawful transfer of identification to facilitate criminal conduct. Mantovani admitted his role in illegally obtaining approximately 18 million e-mail accounts with associated personal identifying information.

Both the conspiracy and unlawful transfer counts carry maximum prison sentences of five years and a maximum fine of $250,000. On Wednesday, Wesley Lanning, 22, of Grove City, Ohio, also pleaded guilty before Judge Martini to the conspiracy count, as did Rogerio Rodrigues 22, of Chicago, on Sept. 22.

“These individuals proved in a big way that the Internet can be a dangerous place where consumers can be victimized without warning,” said U.S. Attorney Christopher J. Christie. “But as this case also shows, criminals operating in the virtual world of the Internet are not ultimately anonymous. Their crimes can be traced and documented, and they can be tracked down, arrested, prosecuted and sent to prison.”

“These guilty pleas illustrate the continued success of investigations such as Operation Firewall in disrupting cyber criminal networks,” said David O’ Connor, Special Agent in Charge of the Secret Service’s Newark Field Office. “Through the joint efforts of the Secret Service and our partners at the state, local and federal levels, we continue to aggressively investigate and successfully prosecute criminal activity that threatens our country’s financial infrastructure.”

The Shadowcrew organization and its associated website, www.Shadowcrew.com, was a hub of online identity theft activity, facilitating online trafficking in stolen identity information and documents, as well as stolen credit and debit card numbers. A year-long investigation by the Secret Service led to the arrests of 21 individuals in the United States in October 2004. To date, 12 have pleaded guilty. Additionally, several individuals were arrested in foreign countries.

The indictment charged that the administrators, moderators, vendors and others involved with Shadowcrew conspired to provide stolen credit and bank card numbers and identity documents through the Shadowcrew marketplace. The account numbers and other items were sold by approved vendors who had been granted permission to sell by administrators and moderators of the Shadowcrew site after completing a review process.

During his guilty plea, Mantovani acknowledged his role as co-founder and administrator of the Shadowcrew website. As such, Mantovani had the power to control the direction of the organization as well as the day-to-day management of the website. He admitted using techniques such as phishing and spamming to illegally obtain credit and bank card information, which he then used to make purchases of merchandise online. The illegally obtained goods were then sent to a “drop” or mailing address specifically set up to receive the stolen goods.

Stephens, Taylor, Mantovani, Zielinski, Monchamp and Lanning all acknowledged that Shadowcrew members sent and received payment for illicit merchandise and services via Western Union money transfers and digital currencies such as E-Gold and Web Money. In addition, Mantovani admitted that in September 2004, he illegally acquired via computer, approximately 18 million e-mail accounts with associated usernames, passwords, dates of birth, and other personally identifying information - approximately 60,000 of which included first and last name, gender, address, city, state, country and telephone number.

U.S. Attorney Christie credited Special Agents of the Secret Service in Newark, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge David O’Connor, in Morristown, for their work in developing the case.

The government was represented by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin M. O’Dowd of the U.S. Attorney's Office Criminal Division, and Kimberly Kiefer Peretti from the Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Section of the Department of Justice.

"Nuclear watchdog says Iran has bomb blueprints
Tehran says it is closer to enriching uranium, which could be used for power or bombs"

By GEORGE JAHN
Associated Press

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "VIENNA, AUSTRIA - The U.N. atomic watchdog agency revealed Friday that Iran received black market nuclear designs that diplomats say appear to be blueprints for the core of a nuclear warhead — a finding expected to be used by Washington and its allies in their push to have Tehran referred to the U.N. Security Council.

The revelations also came as Iran said it had begun converting a second batch of uranium into gas, a step that brings it closer to producing the enriched uranium used to either generate electricity or build bombs.

The State Department denounced Iran's actions."

I doubt China will attempt any shenanigans
with Taiwan prior to the Olympics in 2008. After that, all bets are off.<<<

I would guess that our greatest threat will be if the terrorists make strikes on as many places as they have promised and strike us again here.

The minute that we appear to be weak, we will find our enemies attempting to take advantage of our weak moment.

Tonight in Congress did not prove anything, the liberals are more rabid tonight, than since Bush won the election.

Murtha is a hero now, he is being put up for a peace award, the UN is being called to investigate the torture in Iraq, and it is all Chaney's fault.

I doubt that the world will wait for war until after 2008.

The stolen computer, reminded me that there was a report of a stolen county car today, for Arizona as I recall.

There was a call for info on the radio, I heard it only once and missed a part of it.

There was also another report of a phony cop in Denver, attempted to get a 12 year old boy.

VIETNAM JAILS SIX MONTAGNARD MEN AFTER CALL FOR RELIGIOUS FREEDOM

By Dan Wooding
Founder of ASSIST Ministries

CENTRAL HIGHLANDS, VIETNAM (ANS) -- The Vietnam News Agency has reported that a Vietnamese court has sentenced six ethnic minority Montagnards to between seven and 17 years jail for "threatening national security."

The men, from the Central Highlands, were found guilty of inciting protests in 2004 to call for religious freedom, the agency reported.

The men face an additional five years' surveillance after their release, the agency said.

The BBC, in a story carried on their website, says, “Vietnam has been criticized by rights groups for repressing the Montagnards. Many are Protestants who follow an evangelical Christian Church not sanctioned by the government. They claim their tribal lands have been taken to grow cash crops and that they face constant harassment from the police.

“The 2004 protests, which centered on the capitals of Dak Lak and Gia Lai provinces, were quickly suppressed by security forces.

“The crackdown led to hundreds of Montagnards fleeing across the border to Cambodia, from where many have been resettled in places like the US and Finland.”

BBC Correspondents say the communist government in Vietnam officially guarantees religious freedoms, but both majority Buddhists and minority Christians have complained of violations to their right to worship.
Dan Wooding is an award winning British journalist now living in Southern California with his wife Norma. He is the founder and international director of ASSIST (Aid to Special Saints in Strategic Times) and the ASSIST News Service (ANS). Wooding is the co-host of the weekly radio show, "Window on the World" and was, for ten years a commentator, on the UPI Radio Network in Washington, DC. He also co-hosts three days a week a live phone-in show called "Pastor's Perspective" with Brian Brodersen which is carried on KWVE, Santa Ana, California, and other radio stations across the USA.
