NEW YORK In the upcoming December issue of Vanity Fair, Mary Mapes, the CBS News producer who lost her job after the disputed "60 Minutes II" Bush/National Guard report, writes, "I must answer the bloggers, the babblers and blabbers, and the true believers who have called me everything from 'feminazi' to an 'elitist liberal' to an 'idiot.'

Why did the DOJ let the Burglar get away with what he did and recommend such a low penalty that the judge found it insufficient. Who at DOJ was responsible for this? Alberto?

Here's a story on "Memogate" that pretty well provides the background on the discovery of the Rockefeller memo:

Now going over the Sandy Berger case contrasts. Mark reveals that Berger stole "Code Word" level documents -- the highest classification. Berger got a plea bargain -- the prosecutor only asked for a $10,ooo fine. The Judge, she knocked it up to $50,ooo. And Berger will get his security clearance back, and seems like he hasn't lost his law license (DC Bar).

No grand jury for Berger.

Y'know, I heard Frist twice now on the radio telling the dums what they already knew: they're horrible people.

I think they finally managed to p*ss-off Frist and he's now grown a pair. Although he's never been a favorite of mine (nor, it seems, of many Freepers), I believe we close tight ranks here. Maybe a few more senate Republicans will acquire some backbone as they realize the country's on their side.

The word I think is sedition.
sedition

n. the federal crime of advocacy of insurrection against the government or support for an enemy of the nation during time of war, by speeches, publications and organization. Sedition usually involves actually conspiring to disrupt the legal operation of the government and is beyond expression of an opinion or protesting government policy. Sedition is a lesser crime than "treason," which requires actual betrayal of the government, or "espionage." Espionage involves spying on the government, trading state secrets (particularly military) to another country (even a friendly nation), or sabotaging governmental facilities, equipment or suppliers of the government, like an aircraft factory. During U.S. participation in World War II (1941-1945) several leaders of the German-American Bund, a pro-Nazi organization, were tried and convicted of sedition for actively interfering with the war effort. Since freedom of speech, press and assembly are guaranteed by the Bill of Rights and because treason and espionage charges can be made for overt acts against the nation's security, sedition charges are rare.
