Since "Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.", I and others think it's a good idea to centralize what the goes on in the Senate (or House).
So if you see something happening on the Senate/House floor and you don't want to start a new thread to ask if anyone else just heard what you heard, you can leave a short note on who said what and about what and I'll try and find it the next day in THE RECORD. Or if you see a thread that pertains to the Senate, House, or pretty much any GOV'T agency please link your thread here.
If you have any suggestions for this thread please feel free to let me know.
Here's a few helpful links.
C-SPAN what a great thing. Where you can watch or listen live to most Government happenings.
C-SPAN 1 carries the HOUSE.
C-SPAN 2 carries the SENATE.
C-SPAN 3 (most places web only) carries a variety of committee meetings live or other past programming.
OR FEDNET has online feed also.
A great thing about our Government is they make it really easy for the public to research what the Politicians are doing and saying (on the floor anyway).
THOMAS where you can see a RECORD of what Congress is doing each day. You can also search/read a verbatim text of what each Congressmen/women or Senator has said on the floor or submitted 'for the record.' [This is where the real juicy stuff can be found.]
Also found at Thomas are Monthly Calendars for the Senate Majority and Senate Minority
And Monthly Calendars for the House Majority and Roll Call Votes can be found here.
THE WAR DEPARTMENT (aka The Dept. of Defense)
I got angry with Thune for a little while over the bases closing tactics he used...BUT, he is making up for it big time.
I like how Thune cut through all the crap and made the point how the left is saying Bush is liar! The left uses "mislead". Most folks will absorb the word mislead, but get po'ed with liar!
I'm glad our side is finally kicking butt & taking names.
I asked Bahbah, and she said she didn't see McCain speak on the Warner and Levin amendments the other day...the day they were voted on...
Did you happen to be watching the Senate that day? Did you see him speak?
YIKES,,,SWIMMER ALERT!!
Child poverty?
oh boy....................
No, I thought I saw somewhere that it was a speech "submitted for the record".
come now...........it's FOR THE CHILDREN!!
LOL ... Teddy is doing a really bad job trying to remember what Jesus said
He really should practice reading the speeches his staff hand him
Did you see Thomas changed?
http://thomas.loc.gov/
lol! Osama obama lol!
Whenever I hear Teddy complaining about the "tax cuts for the rich", and how just cancelling them would pay for this or that...I have to ask myself how many tax shelters HE uses for his income every year...
PLUS, I read a while back that IF all of the taxes were collected that were owed every year (from tax shelters?)...we would have more than enough to pay for all programs..
I went and cleaned the fridge and missed all the fun. <8-(
Great...Thomas changed...anything to drive me nuts...I hate change...LOL
So Kennedy wanted to create a Board for end child poverty, whatever he means by that.
That is what I thought...I didn't see it talked about on the Senate thread...and I was pretty sure that if McCain stood up and slammed the dems and admonished the Reps against voting for a amendment that his good friend Warner was presenting...
NO, MCCain....it isn't enough to submit a speech to the record...or write an editorial....YOU MUST stand up in the senate to STOP IT...which you didn't, so you are STILL a loser.
Kennedy is talking about Bush being a liar right now.
How did Kennedy do that?
Wasn't he talking about child poverty?
He just slipped into the Iraq war..........
He's drunk and doesn't know what he is talking about?
