Focus on the Family Action founder and chairman James C. Dobson, Ph.D., issued the following statement today about the nomination of Circuit Judge Samuel Alito to the U.S. Supreme Court:
"We are extremely pleased by President Bush's selection of Judge Samuel Alito, who has earned the respect of colleagues in both parties for his legal acumen and courtroom demeanor.
As a federal judge for the last 15 years, Judge Alito has demonstrated that he understands the role of the judiciary is to interpret existing law in light of the Constitution, not make new law in service to a personal political agenda.
"Perhaps the most encouraging early indication that Judge Alito will make a great justice is that liberal senators such as Harry Reid and Charles Schumer and leftist pressure groups such as People for the American Way and Planned Parenthood have been lining up all day to scream that the sky is falling. Any nominee who so worries the radical left is worthy of serious consideration "Based on what is now known about Judge Alito, we applaud the president for this outstanding nomination."
What's wrong with being a "social conservative" and why should we consider them a "necessary evil," or "evil" at all? Hmmmm?
After the Miers episode, and this great hue and cry of approval for Alito from 'conservatives' and this great faked hue and cry from 'liberals', I'm beginning to finally think one group has had it pretty much dead right all along:
The Amish.
"Too bad Chuckie, Teddy, Hitlery, and the rest...WE HAVE YOUR NUMBER !!!! "
Turn out the lights; the party's over.
"Well I geuss we know from the HAriett Miers episode that Dr. Dobson doesn't have the gift of discernment."
That's because, bless his heart, he's a Baptist.
Well, you can always go back to counting your money.
Yep... I always thought those who called themselves "fiscal conservatives" were saying that they have no morals but their really tight with their money.
