This is it. Do you understand? We're ready for this debate. We can win this debate. We're up against a bunch of people that don't have any ideas. We're up against a bunch of people that can't be honest about who they are, but they care so much about this court they have no choice but than to be honest about who they are.

There are a couple of decisions Alito's been party to that give some folks hope, but I think it's misplaced. This guy reminds me of a younger Justice Kennedy, and we know what happened to him.

Until I know who Alito thinks is the smartest man in the world, I am withholding judgement.

I think you can evaluate the situation for yourself. Otherwise you wouldn't be posting on FR, right?!

Well, if you insist. I "evaluate" that you are not able to back up what you post. But I am only a part time evaluator. It must be requested of me.

No, I for one can't evaluate. I worked too long today.
I'm all ears.

" I think that McCain, in his ambition, will be the one who puts Alito over the top and squelches any possible filibuster."

Yes the timing of this battle is very fortuitous. It almost reminds me of President Bush's battle to get Senate approval for the language of War with Iraq just before the last midterm election. That was a smashing political victory and I think we have another one in the making.

Note my tagline. I sometimes wonder how much difference it has made getting little tommy d out of the Senate. Just an idle musing...

Great quote with tons of politically un-correct truth in it.

And so the wackjob fringe/fake conservative wing of FR embarks on its tack of painting Alito as an Anthony Kennedy clone.

Idiots.

If the American people find out just who these leftist groups really are and what they really stand for, Senate Democrats from "Red States" will have no choice but to confirm Alito.

I wish I could be so optimistic about the members of the Senate. Some of them (Dems and RINOs) couldn't care less what the voters want. They'll stubbornly vote the liberal "party line" regardless of what their constituents think.

It's as if their more beholden to their liberal gods than to the people who put them in office.

GWB might as well have added "Checkmate!" when he announced the nomination this morning.

If one were to postulate that the Miers nomination was a feint designed to get the expected result and solidify the base, the pieces would fit. Now the Alito nomination has a solidified base but for instead of against and the Dems are in disarray. I would say that once again Bush has been misunderestimated and the Dems have been Roved one more time.

Limbaugh is exactly right. Let the left rant and rave. Let them show the country who they are. Let them impugn a decent Italian-American and sneer at him because he's white and male. That rhetoric doesn't play as well today as it once might have. Ultimately, leftist excesses will work in our favor.

All Alito has to do, and from his bio and record I see no reason why it wouldn't be a piece of cake for him, is to be impressive under the klieg lights before the committee. He should be able to do just as well as Roberts. The Dems will be squeezed, the gang of 14 split, and Alito will take his place on the court.

Have heard Arlen Specter is on the Alito train. If true that makes De Wine, Graham and Specter on board. Things are looking GOOD but keep those phone calls going to DC! Calls to your own US Senators and any of the remaining Gang of 12. Hagel and McCain especially since they have Presidential daydreams. This is THE party vote of a lifetime. We have worked to hard to get here, we will not falter at the last hurdle.

Let's Roll!
