Frustrated ranchers take over border security
The Washington Times ^ | October 31, 2005 | Jerry Seper

PLAYAS VALLEY, N.M. -- For the 100 years that Robert Been's family has been grazing cattle and raising horses on this isolated, scrub-brush desert in New Mexico's southwestern corner, illegal aliens have been crossing into the United States. Mr. Been, whose 2,500-acre ranch straddles a long-established immigration corridor, recalls his parents giving illegals food, water and clothing to guard against the cold desert nights. It was "just a way of life here." "They were respectful of us, and we returned that respect." But things have changed in this remote desert valley and the adjoining Animus Canyon. "The alien smugglers and drug dealers we now face don't care about anything or anybody. They are ruthless" and the "aliens are much different," said Mr. Been, 48. "They're tearing down our fences, destroying our water tanks, breaking into our homes, slaughtering our cattle, stealing our horses and threatening our families," he said as he prepared his horse for a daylong patrol along the U.S.-Mexico border.

The rancher should sue the US Government. They are not living up to their obligation.

The ranchers may be feeling animus towards the illegals, but the valley is the Animas Valley. It's in the far SW corner of the state of NM, in the bootheel.

I just heard that the Minutemen had completed their stay in NM, and had only reported a small number of illegals to the border patrol. They made it sound like no one was using NM to cross the border. Obviously the MSM is minimizing illegal immigration in NM.

"People have a right to protect their own land."

You're wrong! The indigenous peoples of the Americas have a RIGHT to travel and live anywhere they please. They are a rising force which will overwhelm the White Imperialists who have stolen there homeland. Along with their Muslim brothers they will conquer the Great Satan and birth a Utopia where all People of Color (except blacks) can live in harmony with the land forever. :)

I'm thinking seeding the border with the dye/teargas packs banks use to mark robbers might be a good idea...

Your post is abusive. Hot? Try looking at a Freeper's past posts or home page before flying off the handle. There just might be sarcasm involved.

People have a right to protect their own land.

Yep.

Outraged by the escalating violence and vandalism and puzzled by the government's inability to confront the problem, Mr. Been has organized the Rough Riders, a group of ranchers and locals who patrol the region on horseback searching for signs of aliens headed north.

"They have broken into our houses and taken our food, clothes, jewelry and guns," said Mr. Been, adding that the patrols have assisted the Border Patrol in 315 apprehensions since May. "We're tired of it, and we will not stop these patrols until something is done."

If someone just looked at an AZTLAN or MECCHA web site ..... it SHOULD have had the sarcasm tag - the little smile was hardly readable.

The sarcasm tag is un-necessary when the response is obvious - but there are those who really feel exactly as the post read. They are close to the majority of the ruling revolutionary class in many western/southwestern areas.

ps - I did not read the deleted post - I am assuming the poster took the "sarcasm" as a serious post.

I was simply showing reason why someone would consider the "sarcasm" as serious.

If I were president, I'd make it clear that my justice department would not prosecute anyone for some stupid "civil rights" infringement if a landowner were simply protecting himself, his family, his property, or his dignity. I'm not saying that we should have open season on other human beings. I'm not saying that private citizens should take law enforcement into their own hands. However, when one of these thugs hurts a citizen in any way, the citizen should be free to use force for self-protection. We need to send a message that illegal immigration will not be tolerated.

Bill
