Give Chrissy a little credit. He's the same liberal swine as ever. All he says is that they should have attacked Alito for threatening their precious right to an abortion, instead of starting out with something politically weak and ineffectual. He's complaining that they did an inefficient job of sliming him. If he had been running the DNC they would have done better.
To me, it sounds like Matthews is just saying they should go after Alito for other issues than the failed conviction.
Like flashbunny says, though, this is gonna leave a mark!

I read his comments a little differently. I think he is upset with the DEMS because he feels that they need a better plan to trash Alito.

Italians, Cubans, and white southerners are the only three groups it is safe to stereotype, I guess.
You have to understand that among the remnants of the old WASP elite and the Jewish elite that make up most of the Democratic party's upper echelons, one of the few remaining prejudices that is socially acceptable is prejudice against Italians. Every Italian, in the view of these geniuses, is a gardner, a stonemason, or has mafia ties. I once heard a partner in democratic establishment leader Cy Vance's law firm say to another partner "It will be over my dead body that we have a partner whose last name ends in a vowel", and to this day there are remarkably few Italian surnames among the partners at the "white shoe" Wall Street law firms. Even today, having an Italian surname is a distinct handicap in applying to the elite Northeastern universities of the ivy league and the equivalent liberal arts colleges.
