Canada - More Dangerous To USA Than Mexico
Opinion Editorials ^ | 10/30/05 | Warner Todd Huston

Posted on 10/30/2005 9:12:20 AM PST by Mobile Vulgus

The neo-isolationists that fill the far right of the Conservative movement, fanned on by certain insincere radio hosts, have become so exorcised by Mexico that the issue is close to eclipsing the GWOT; the Global War On Terror.

The gnashing of teeth and wearing of sackcloth has, for some, reached such a fever pitch that no other issue is important to them. They are fixated on the fact that Mexico is the most dangerous thing the USA faces in the 21st century, that Mexico will destroy our culture, or destroy our economy. And this as we prosecute a war, yet.

Of course, we have major problems with our nearest neighbor to the south. We have rampant illegal crossings, drug smuggling with impunity and a loss of a large block of our economy as Mexicans send US dollars home to Mexico instead of spending it here.

But a little perspective would be nice because Mexico isn’t the most imminent danger the USA faces in the neighborhood. Canada is more of an immediate threat to our security by far than is Mexico.

You are an arrogant one....

Obviously you sip the liberal news kool-aid that the Canadian news has been broadcasting.... Why don't you go out and find some of the boys that are fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan and really see how the war is going...

I don't think our military has lost any luster at all... in fact I think it has improved its war fighting capabilities immensely in the past 4 years....Our government can still afford to build its own capital ships and not buy crap sub fleets from other countries...

Plus the way the government of Canada fights between the provinces it is amazing if any thing was organized up there.

You ain't seen nothin...

I need to laugh . I'm reminded of the comment made about the Indians in Quebec during the referendum. I suppose one needs to know how dependent the Eastern and Western Seaboards are on Canadian hydro power and natural gas.

The comment was " do you know how much damage an Indian could do with a case of dynamite". Think about it . In January. :)

Canada needs a mass media scale mocking. Someone like this will make no stones unturned:

http://www.royandhg.com/

Conan O'Brien and Triumph and Insult dog will be made like amateurs by Roy and HG, who represents some of the best of Australian humour and the national sport of mocking the ridiculous.

I served in the Canadian Armed services in my younger days. The Royal Canadian Armered Corp (105mm British Centurions) and have always voted Conservative and would be so far right of you that it would make your head spin.
And even at my age (I'm retired now) would fight and die fighting for this country and that means anyone.
And it's laughable that there are so many comments about the Canadian armed forces when the U.S. Armed forces is in such a pathetic state now.
Who's afraid of the Americans any more? No one. The Iranian President can threaten Isreal with being wiped of the map because he has nothing to fear.
The Yanks can barely old off a relatively disorganized bunch of thugs in Iraq and Iran knows it has nothing to fear. The U.S. will NEVER invade Iran - because it can't.
Iran would not blink at losing a million men( as it did in the war with Iraq). America has lost its stomach to take losses..
If you think anyone outside of the U.S. has been impressed with the U.S. military during the past 4 years, you're smoking some good dope, my friend..
Sorry, but the torch of military superpower is being passed to China. I really wish I were wrong and the U.S. was the U.S. of old (e.g. the Reagan 80's), but facts are facts.

Maybe. Or it just could be we know the American public would have a fit if the lights went out and the heat just wasn't there. Like I said , think about it . In January .

And then ponder the big bellicose question otherwise known as you're vulnerable as a new baby. If I wanted to destroy the USA , the most powerful country in the world , could I do it as simply as putting everyone out of work. Think over extended credit running your economy. Think Walmart. Think China.

Maybe.

DO NOT CONFUSE political pressures and our armed forces abilities. The United States Armed Services are second to none in the world. Our politicians are what holds us back. As compared to Canada where your society holds back the effectiveness of the armed forces. Japan has learned - when will you?AWB

Once again you believe American opinion is broadcast by the major media...The media has its own agenda that it is trying to push on American society... If we really had lost our stomach for war loses you would see protests in the street everyday... you don't... the antiwar/socialist crowd has to combine all its protesters from all its different causes to get even 1000 people out in the streets...

As for Iran that remains to be seen... I doubt we will get the chance to invade... the Brits are already beating that war drum, but if asked I am sure we will follow them in and yes the American public will support... We understand that this is a war against western civilization.. the MSM does not... were you get off saying we can barely hold off a bunch of thugs in Iraq is beyond me... we have taken the country from dictatorship to constitution in 2 years... I would say that that qualifies as a success.

"You are an arrogant one...."" Please don't post stuff like that while I'm drinking hot tea. I laughed so hard that tea came out my nose... It may be the first time a Canadian has been called arrogant by an American.. Thanks for that.. I hope it sets a trend. If we Canadians become more arrogant, I'm sure many Americans will scratch their heads and wonder where the heck we learned that, eh? What irony.....

it is nice and toasty warm in Arizona in January...:)

I think that most people believe the American public is what is displayed by our MSM... there is becoming a wider and wider divide between what the MSM prints and broadcast and what America believes... why do you think all the major networks and CNN and MSNBC are struggling for ratings.... no one trust or relies on them for news only political opinion...

The American's I know are a hearty bunch... if the lights go out and the power goes out in January... they will find a way to say warm... we are not a coddled society like france someone gave you some bad info on that.

"DO NOT CONFUSE political pressures and our armed forces abilities. The United States Armed Services are second to none in the world.". You must be joking. Please don't start anything with 2nd rate powers like N. Korea or Iran. And stay the hell away from China, please. Stick to Haiti and Panama. Iraq is proving to be a bit odf a stretch, and they're not exactly the Waffen SS...

The American's I know are a hearty bunch..

OK, Let's think New Orleans. And 300 million Americans do not all live in Arizona. The point is it doesn't take a lot to cause one hell of a lot of damage.

In another post you say Once again you believe American opinion is broadcast by the major media...The media has its own agenda that it is trying to push on American society..

Got any idea what that agenda is?

"No I have called other Candians arrogant... and I know exactly where they learned it from.... France!"

No it is not only France. They also learned the worst of British High Tory beliefs - including paternalistic statism, sneering at Americans, and haughty beliefs reagrding their own military and moral superiority. You read their posts and they are just like Sir Max Hastings, Mahhtew Parris, or Sir Peregrine Worsthorne. All the talk about the best military being British-influenced ones (British, Canada, Australia, NZ) and the Yanks are lucky yada yada.

Nope. It's just we fight with two hands tied behind our backs. I don't wish to be drawn into an internet fight with Canadians but get real.

Yup...

The MSM agenda is to forward the liberal/socialist view anyway they can.

New Orleans is a prime example of how socialism/liberalism failed... and is not the Norm for the rest of America...

look at Florida after the recent hurricane... look at Texas after Rita... Florida.. after Hurricane Andrew... those are all examples of where you did not hear mass caterwauling and crying... people sucked it up and are moving on... Yes Katrina was tragic for those who have lost house and home and family. But two months on do you hear the outcries... nope only from a select few media whores that want to keep their face and their cause in the news..
