(Actor Jim Hogue, playing the role of Ethan Allen, addressed a convention on independence for Vermont at the Statehouse in Montpelier today.)
Am I the only one that thinks that this is not the only costume that Jim has in his closet?

Works for me.
They should have just let us go in 1860.

Fine with me. And with their gay civil unions, it won't be a self-sustaining ecosystem.

Ethan Allen, who led the Green Mountain Boys to take Fort Ticonderoga from the British in 1775, was among those in attendance...Somehow I doubt that Mr. Allen was a freakin' COMMIE like those folks!

I'm not so sure that isn't the real Ethan Allan.
He looks like a 270 year old guy who would run a furniture store.

Scotch said he favored a "secession in spirit" but, "If we took our intellectual marbles and went home ... the rest of the country would be worse off. The rest of the country needs us." Don't worry, we'll be okay... really...

How are you supposed to take someone seriously when they play dress-up and make-believe while considering the most dire and serious of subjects?

I think we should simply take their names, process their overt request to renounce their citizenship, revoke said citizenship, and immediately deport them to a neutral 3rd country such as CUBA.
Strip them of all assets due to their violation of the 14th amendment's provisions of their being a non-person having supported insurrection and/or rebellion making a government debt due to confiscation of assets null and void.
Shoot them in the face if they attempt to re-enter the United States. Issue letters of Marque to anyone who asks so that we can sink, shoot, and set ablaze any and all boats, ships, dingies, or rafts they may board with an intent to re-enter the United States.
In short, to hell with them.

Comtemplate the mangled bodies of your countrymen and then ask yourself, What should be the reward of such sacrifices... If ye love wealth better than freedom, the tranquility of servitude than the animating contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands that feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen. Samuel Adams
I say let them GO

VT borders Quebec - I suggest the two secede together - start a new country called Canusa - allow fag marriages, sex with animals. Let all the freaks from Canada and the USA go there to start life anew ...

I've been saying for years that Vermont, not New Hampshire, is where the Free Staters need to settle. This is a state that's ripe for a lot of their pet projects. And if they were to actually elect Libertarians to the House or Senate, they would be replacing useless crap like Sanders, Jeffords and Leahy. They would be better almost by default.
And any state that can elect Howard Dean are obviously snow-blinded already.

Ironic Yankee secessionism ping.
I say let them secede so Red-Staters can have reason for invasion and reconstruction of the whole state.
