(10-27) 17:09 MARTINEZ -- The investigation into the slaying of Pamela Vitale took a startling twist today when authorities arrested the mother of the 16-year-old boy charged in the killing and accused her of being an accessory to the crime.

The arrest of 53-year-old Esther Marion Fielding came on the same day her son, Scott Edgar Dyleski, was arraigned on a single count of murder; she was booked into the Contra Costa County jail in Martinez and remained behind bars in lieu of $500,000 bail late this afternoon.

It was not immediately clear what role Fielding is alleged to have played in the Oct. 15 crime, in which Vitale -- the wife of prominent East Bay attorney and television commentator Daniel Horowitz -- was bludgeoned and stabbed in the couple's Lafayette home on Oct. 15.

She has been accused of violating Section 187.32 of the state penal code, which is aiding and abetting a person involved in killing. She is suspected of having helped her son in the wake of the crime, but it was not clear exactly how she is alleged to have assisted him.

. . .(snip).

According to an affidavit, Fielding spoke to her son the night of the murder and told him to spend the night at his girlfriend's house because of the blocked roads and police activity.

Fielding previously owned a Lafayette cafe and now runs a DNA activation and gene replacement service, which she calls powerful tools for healing the physical body, the mind and the soul.

Jail officials said they would not ask Fielding if she would consent to an interview, citing the gag order.

Sounds like a traveler scam. The kid appears to take the old superstitions to heart as well.

Shortly we will find out that this family has access to several highly experienced criminal attorneys.

California is not really America. It's not even Earth.

What's even better is that she calls it "remote DNA healing." I guess she concentrates really hard and heals them over the Internet or something - after she's cashed the check, of course. But then, there's somebody looking for remote DNA healing [aka, sucker] born every minute...

Do parents get protection from testifying against their kids (the way spouses do for murder...)?

Mother and son involved in crime??

Maybe not, aiding and abetting could mean she helped her son dispose of evidence after the crime, like bloody clothing

I bow to your wisdom! I still don't think if she was only involved in covering up that she is evil like Kimes..Kimes was the kind nightmares are made of..Here the son seems to be the nightmare.
