ALERT: Blair hints at military action after Iran's 'disgraceful' taunt to Israel

TONY BLAIR served warning last night that the West might have to take military action against Iran after worldwide condemnation of its President’s call for Israel to be “wiped off the map”.

Ending a one-day European Union summit, the Prime Minister called the explosive declaration by Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Wednesday a disgrace.

Promising discussions with Washington and other allies over how to react, Mr Blair said that he had often been urged not to take action against Iran.

But, he continued: “If they carry on like this the question people will be asking us is — when are you going to do something about Iran? Can you imagine a state like that with an attitude like that having nuclear weapons?”

It was the first time Mr Blair had even hinted at military action and his words are likely to alarm Labour MPs. Mr Blair, clearly angry at the President’s outburst, said that there were people in Iran’s leadership who believed that the world was sufficiently distracted with everything else that it could not afford to focus on the nuclear arms issue.

“They will be making a very big mistake if they do that. Those sentiments are completely unacceptable. I have never come across a situation in which the President of a country has said they want to wipe out another country — not that they have a problem with a country but they want to wipe it out. That is completely unacceptable.”

We all need to untie ourselves from the binds of political correctness and take care of the these fools. Sure, civilians will die, but how many more will die if we do nothing?

Does the UK have a military that can take on Iran?

They sure as hell have an ally who can!

Your right that Israel will take this very seriously and soon. It will be up to Israel ultimately to take action.

Oil is the crucial issue as to why the U.S. and other nations will likely stay out of this. Even so, Iran would try to strangle the global economy by shutting down as much Mideast oil as possible through an embargo and military actions in the Persian Gulf once their precious nuclear program smolders in ruins.

Great idea, but recall that there are other transmission methods besides a missile.

Ok, I found this part of his quote worse than the "wipe Israel off the map" remark:

"Anybody who recognises Israel will burn in the fire of the Islamic nation's fury "

The US recognizes Israel, and burning in the fire sounds like something for which one would need nukes.

Well I do need someone to bring the IED's over in the light so I can take a look at them.

Iran would use missiles, hence the reason for the Shahab missile line. Iran right now has the missiles to deliver warheads to Israel, just don't have the warheads yet (at least no one publicly is convinced that they have them, although they could have bought some from North Korea, they are desperate for money, after all...). The Shahab IV, which the Iranians hope to have in operation by the end of the decade, will have the ability of nuking most places in Europe.

Understand this, Iran is the major source of terror in Iraq. Nuclear weapons or no, IRAN MUST GO!

I also remind you that fairly recently, Israel said that if the U.S. did nothing about Iran, they would. They acknowledge the optimal resolution is U.S. action, because Israel smashing an Arab state will be messy, obviously (although can militant Arabs really hate Israel any more than they already do?).

A military campaign in Iran will be a nightmare, Iraq will have been a cakewalk in comparison. Syria (which is essentially controlled by Iran), on the other hand, would be extremely easy. The way to do this would be to enforce a blockade against Iranian oil exports. Within weeks, the regime will be out of money; it would then collapse. If we go to war with Iran, there is a very real possibility of the Iranian population turning against us.

Iran is the most pro-US country (I mean the general population, not terrorist thugs like Ahmadinejad) in the Middle East, only behind Israel.

I don't how else to wipe a nation off the face of the earth, other than with nuclear weapons.

Correction again - 99% of the candidates were barred from running. Over a thousand filed papers to run, and only 10 (or so) were allowed. When Ahmadinejad won the first election, he basically unknown in Iran. Only about 35% of the ballots were real, the rest were fradulent! He was absolutely selected, not elected by the unelected Guardian Council and the Supreme Leader.

LOL. Shoot! Where did I lay my glasses.

I could drive a truck or even serve chow, huh? (I remembered that the Persian Gulf is a little shallow for subs, lol. In fact, it was completely dry during the Ice Age)

I don't believe they have long range planes, and anyway they would be shot out of the sky if they had them. Their aim is to match a nuke warhead on a missile with the range to hit Israel and fire it.

Don't count yourself out yet. We are in the beginning of a 100-year war with radical Islam. If the time comes, they will be happy to issue you a pair of boots and a rifle.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad sounds like another Hitler. He needs to be exterminated. People should realize that Hugo Chavez of Venezuela has been to Iran and has the same attitude about Jews. He's had his troops invade Jewish schools, etc.

These lunatics think that because they have oil they can threaten anyone and not be held accountable. They are tin horn dictators who apparently haven't noticed that Saddam Hussein is in jail, waiting to be executed.

Speaking of oil, why aren't we already drilling in the ANWR? Because our elected jackasses in Congress are stupid, that's why.

Bush and Blair have taken more action

Isn't it amazing? The US military is patrolling the Syria border from the Iraqi side at this very second....and WE STILL HEAR "Bush is doing nothing." Just a few years ago that would've sounded ludicrous.

Bush killed the ABM treaty and started planting ABMs in Alaska against that nutter in NoKo. Nobody here is satisfied.

Bush backed out of Kyoto. Nobody cares, and they shout "Bushbot!"

Bush could nuke the entire middle east and some on this board would scream "YOU FORGOT TO NUKE MEXICO AND WAL-MART!" sigh.

Mohammedans and their leaders call for the destruction of Israel every 2 seconds.

Why is this specific one being condemned so much as opposed to the others?

You'd think Israel would be the first to serve this warning instead of the UK.

Israel will push the button if Iran gets close.....

They hold fire now....in respect for Bush....but that respect is wearing extremely thin....
