Who's taking bets on whether Galloway will have the balls to come back to the US to face his Capitol Hill accusers again? I'm guessing that he's looking for a safe haven in Syria or Iran about now.

Good to see, that Germany has only a few black sheep, including Mr. Denk from DaimlerChrysler (illegally paid 6,950 to Iraq) and some from Siemens (though Siemens companies from Turkey and France violated the regulations by paying 1.6 million $).
I knew that Germany is just as involved as Australia or the US.

This definitely contributes to an explanation why France and Russia have opposed the war against Iraq that strongly.

2,000 Companies Made Illicit Payments to Iraq in Oil-for-Food Program, Report Says By Edith M. Lederer Associated Press Writer - Published: Oct 27, 2005
UNITED NATIONS (AP) - More than 2,000 companies made about $1.8 billion in illicit payments to Saddam Hussein's government through extensive manipulation of the U.N. oil-for-food program in Iraq, according to key findings of a U.N.-backed investigation.
The report - to be released in full Thursday by the committee probing claims of wrongdoing in the $64 billion program - indicates that about half the 4,500 companies doing business with Iraq paid illegal surcharges on oil purchases or kickbacks on contracts to supply humanitarian goods....

Must suck for the left because the oil for fooders "queered the deal" on their mantra that there was real massive international support against the war. All of their heroes are suspect. Were their favorite Euro lefties paid by Saddam to be against the war or not? Many are on record now as on the take for their support and some we'll never know. My guess is most were.

Page 79: George Galloway received vouchers for 18 million barrels of Saddam's oil.
11 million barrels were sold by a middleman working directly for Galloway.
Payments for Galloway's services in petitioning the lifting of Iraqi sanctions were made through his group 'Mariam Appeal' and donated by Iraqi agents using Galloway's wife as the instrument of transfer.
