The prosecutor in the CIA leak investigation presented a summary of his case to a federal grand jury yesterday and is expected to announce a final decision on charges in the two-year-long probe tomorrow, according to people familiar with the case.

There will be no indictments of White House officials.

Grand juries are always stacked for the prosecutor--there is no contrary evidence and no lawyers for the other side. But you should make no further assumption based on the demographics. Washington is full of retired civil servants (often Black) who have more than a passing understanding of procedures and practices of the government.

" In his fourth and final grand jury appearance, this lawyer said, Rove was asked why he did not mention his discussion of Plame with Cooper.
Rove has told people he simply had forgotten the conversation."

Fitzgerald cannot seriously be considering a perjury charge for this.
Imagine the number of people Rove must talk to in a given day , multiply it by weeks and months, throw in an election and a war and he's supposed to remember a single conversation with that slug from Time ?

Bush's approval rating with black women being about 3%, it isn't unreasonable to conclude that there's a serious possibility of bias here.

Miller seems to have forgotten a meeting at the White House at which she took notes. It will be interesting if anyone gets indicted for bad memory.

My mind thought the exact same thing. If there ever was a GJ which the dems could dream of - that would be it.

Austin, Texas, is the same. A liberal Democrat stronghold.

Libby is the obvious one to get charges...although Miller simply got her info from him. I can't see much of a case against Miller. All she has to say is that she didn't research it much and was under the influence of alcohol or pain killers when she typed it all down...and that takes her out of the case.

He explained that he knew what an inconvenience serving was, and he would understand if they wanted to step down rather than continue on after Friday. He asked them to take a vote, he stepped out of the room... The vote took less than 1 minute I was told.

This is utter rubbish and whoever posted this is a damn liar.

This Grand Jury's time is O V E R on Friday and they don't have the right to "vote" to "extend" their time. They've been extended once -- that's it.

If he wants more time, he has to get a new Grand jury.

Of course they've pre-judged the case.

Look, about nine out of ten black people who bother to vote vote Democrat - and the kind of people who'd bother to vote are the kind of people who serve on Grand Juries. And, of course, Washington is more partisan, more liberal, and more Democratic than virtually any other city in the nation.

But, as to the above, I suspect that it's a pack of lies. As far as I know, Fitzgerald can't extend the Grand Jury at this point - he'd have to empanel a new one.

Here's an example of the crack reporting at Raw Story:

The lawyers said Fitzgerald needed more evidence to convince the grand jury that Plame was in fact an undercover agent. On Monday, he sent FBI agents to her residential neighborhood to obtain testimony from neighbors that they were unaware of Plame’s employment prior to her outing.

He has to convince the GJ that she was undercover so he sends FBI agents out to ask her neighbors?

Why? Couldn't he get the CIA to say she was?
