Nine seasons of crude comedy
Communist News Network (CNN) ^ | 25 October 2005 | APee

NEW YORK (AP) -- With the political relevance of "The Daily Show" and the huge DVD sales (and subsequent hiatus) of "Chappelle's Show," it's easy to forget about that other Comedy Central show, "South Park."

But Matt Stone and Trey Parker's crude cartoon began its ninth season last Wednesday -- and it remains the network's most-watched program. It is also, perhaps, still the most manic thing on TV, with entire episodes created just days before they air.

With a ripped-from-the-headlines approach, it's the "Law & Order" of comedy. The first episode, "Two Days Before the Day After Tomorrow," tackles Hurricane Katrina -- by way of the neighboring town flooding.

Parker, who turned 36 last week, and Stone, 34, last month inked a deal for three more seasons and "South Park" has begun appearing in syndication in some markets -- both of which assure the world of Cartman, Stan, Kyle and the rest will continue to expand.

Of course, you have to remember that repeated viewings of MXC on Spike have destroyed what few remaining brain cells I had.

LOL

MXC is great but I don't get to watch that show either.

Some of those contestants are freakin tough to take the bumps they take and to get up and laugh about it....

I like Blue Collar TV, but it was a helluva lot better when it was just Jeff, Larry and Bill.

Did you notice they always have a contestant named Baba Ganouche (sp)? My brother pointed that out to me and I have yet to see an episode where there wasnt :)

MXC rules!

I TIVOed some of the Cartman episodes from last weekend. Cartman getting his money back from the 9th grader. Classic. Then last night I watched the one where Cartman goes to the Special Olympics. I am laughing while typing this, I am sure glad I am the late guy at work!

The Man Show! Girls on trampolines, always a crowd favorite. Of course once Jimmy and Adam left it was better left unwatched.

"Scott Timmerman Must Die" is the alltime cruelest episode ever aired, and just as funny. My favorite Cartman episode though would have to be "Chickenlover", just for the laughs of Cartman as the police while "Cops" is filming him.

Is this the inspiration for Baba Ganoush? Found this recipe at Epicurious.com :

BABA GHANOUJ
"Your readers would love the food at Stella's," writes Annoria Tohrm of Richmond, Virginia. "This Greek cafe in Richmond serves all the standards — moussaka, taramasalata, and baklava. But I can't get enough of the baba ghanouj, and I want to make it at home."
This Middle Eastern eggplant spread is also a delicious dip for raw vegetables.
2 1-pound eggplants, halved lengthwise
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup tahini (sesame seed paste)*
3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 garlic clove, chopped
Pita bread wedges
Preheat oven to 375°F. Generously oil rimmed baking sheet. Place eggplant halves, cut side down, on sheet. Roast until eggplant is very soft, about 45 minutes. Cool slightly. Using spoon, scoop out pulp from eggplant into strainer set over bowl. Let stand 30 minutes, allowing excess liquid to drain from eggplant.
Transfer eggplant pulp to processor. Add 1/4 cup oil, tahini, lemon juice, and garlic; process until almost smooth. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Transfer to small bowl. (Can be made 1 day ahead. Cover and chill. Bring to room temperature before serving.) Serve with pita wedges.

* Available at Middle Eastern and natural foods stores and some supermarkets.

Makes about 1 3/4 cups.

South Park is the funniest show on television. I'm not saying kids or the very delicate should watch it, I am simply saying it never fails to make me laugh.

Mind of Mencia is funnier on a pure comedy level.

I first saw Carlos Mencia on Comedy Central almost 10 years ago and he had me in tears I was laughing so hard. His show is sort of an extension of his live comedy acts, which I've been to see in person.

He's not conservative, he's not liberal, he's just a guy who I think is the best comedian out there since Sam Kinison.
