Nine seasons of crude comedy

NEW YORK (AP) -- With the political relevance of "The Daily Show" and the huge DVD sales (and subsequent hiatus) of "Chappelle's Show," it's easy to forget about that other Comedy Central show, "South Park."

But Matt Stone and Trey Parker's crude cartoon began its ninth season last Wednesday -- and it remains the network's most-watched program. It is also, perhaps, still the most manic thing on TV, with entire episodes created just days before they air.

With a ripped-from-the-headlines approach, it's the "Law & Order" of comedy. The first episode, "Two Days Before the Day After Tomorrow," tackles Hurricane Katrina -- by way of the neighboring town flooding.

Parker, who turned 36 last week, and Stone, 34, last month inked a deal for three more seasons and "South Park" has begun appearing in syndication in some markets -- both of which assure the world of Cartman, Stan, Kyle and the rest will continue to expand.

Now that The Daily Show has become the favorite stroke material of frustrated liberals everywhere, it's pretty much impossible to escape coverage of it in the media.

yeah...

he lives in Yellow Springs, OH, which is just south of me actually....

I don't envy the attention of the "stars" get. I could imagine it getting pretty bad after a while....

I love South Park, but at the moment, the All time Greatest Show in Comedy Central was The Man Show. But I think South Park is close to eclipsing it....

#1 is great, but #2 is a legend.

South Park is one of those shows that keeps getting better.

Especially since Parker and Stone have been able to grow the show while maintaining the same basic 4 characters...

I can't believe what I have to endure when the people at work watch sitcoms during the "family hour." Gay this, sex that...for someone who never watches TV, it's hard not to notice a) how much alike they all sound and b)how sophomorically perverted they are.

and then during lunch they watch Jerry Springer and similar circus acts

What kind of job do you have where people watch TV all day?

Please tell me you are referring to the Jimmy and Adam Man Show...not Joe Rogan and that other guy.....

When I get together with certain friends, we still have to drink one for the Fox.

ohh yeah...

I don't think I even watched whatever became of the Man Show after Jimmy and Adam left.

They never should have kept the show going...

BTW, Adam Corolla on that show for TLC is hilarious....

hehe yeah he can.

I was trying to get the wife to watch it with me, and when I said I wanted to redo the house the way he did it, she left the room :)

Now she doesn't bug me by trying to get me to watch Trading Spaces or anything.

May I recommend the Showbiz Show with David Spade. he takes no prisoners and probably won't be getting any movie offers soon.Hammers the loonies of Hollywood, so most if not all targets are lefties.

I saw the one the other night (it's generally on when I am still at work)...

Looks funny.

My wife loves it and she has a great sense of humor (it's good enough that she doesn't laugh at my horrible jokes), so maybe I will put it on the TiVO list....

Well, which is it young feller, is it 'easy to forget' or the 'most-watched'?

Nobody goes there anymore. It's too crowded.
