Nine seasons of crude comedy
Communist News Network (CNN) ^ | 25 October 2005 | APee

NEW YORK (AP) -- With the political relevance of "The Daily Show" and the huge DVD sales (and subsequent hiatus) of "Chappelle's Show," it's easy to forget about that other Comedy Central show, "South Park."

But Matt Stone and Trey Parker's crude cartoon began its ninth season last Wednesday -- and it remains the network's most-watched program. It is also, perhaps, still the most manic thing on TV, with entire episodes created just days before they air.

With a ripped-from-the-headlines approach, it's the "Law & Order" of comedy. The first episode, "Two Days Before the Day After Tomorrow," tackles Hurricane Katrina -- by way of the neighboring town flooding.

Parker, who turned 36 last week, and Stone, 34, last month inked a deal for three more seasons and "South Park" has begun appearing in syndication in some markets -- both of which assure the world of Cartman, Stan, Kyle and the rest will continue to expand.

I can't really get into Reno 911! anymore.

But like I said, I like Mind of Mencia. That guy is sick :)

probably....

It takes a lot to make these episodes still but at least they aren't hand drawn either.

But to make it that quickly and too still make it funny is simply amazing...

Chappelle's Show had some really good moments the first season. I have the DVD somewhere actually.

I didn't get to watch much of the 2nd season.

He's funny. Funny enough to do some other jokes about whether someone is a Mexican or not. I like him, but I don't want to have to watch him to get his latest take on why being white is racist with respect to his culture....

I like Chappelle's Show a little more than Mind of Mencia. While both play heavily on racial matters (and are very funny about it), Mencia needs to use a thesaurus, because I can only heard "beaner" so many times before it loses its comedic punch. he uses it EVERY TIME. ya know?

Well, the did show the Fonz jumping the shark in one of their episodes. So they at least recognize the existance of such an occurrance. =P

still funny to me I guess....

who cares it's funny and I think Chappelle does the Rick James thing too often too...

and don't get me started on the blue collar comedy tour. Sure thing, it was funny the first 20000 times I saw it, but now its old, boring and REALLY repetitive....

Which reminds me: When, oh when, will they put Action! with Jay Mohr, Buddy Hackett, and Ileana Douglas on DVD?

I have the 1st season DVD too; don't get Comedy Central on my cable system. Loved the blind/black white supremacist bit.

Haven't seen anything beyond the 1st season, so don't know if #2 was any good.

"The Daily Show" is correctly named.

Every day they have the same show.

oh man, both of those shows have Blue Collar TV beat, by a longshot.

have you seen Chappelle's standup that he did recently? I saw it this weekend, it was great! He addressed the Rick James thing, and how Comedy Central has ruined it for him by playing that episode waaaaay too much, and how he couldnt even take his son to Disney World without people yelling that line at him. "I'm Rick James, bitch!"

"Would ya mind not calling me a bitch in front of my 3 year old?!?"

Actually the rip into Pub's as well as Libs. We are just so indifferent to the common insults thrown at pubs that we cherish a truly impartial impression of the American condition, well, a rather surreal and farcicle impression, but still impartial.

Well, which is it young feller, is it 'easy to forget' or the 'most-watched'?

No watches that idiot on the Daily Show.

My baby-boomer Mom gets her "News" from the Daily Show... I clearly need to spend more time with her!
