Daniel Craig will have a problem playing the new James Bond - because he hates guns.
The actor will wield 007's famous Walther PPK in the movie Casino Royale.
But he revealed in OK! magazine: "I hate handguns. Handguns are used to shoot people and as long as they are around, people will shoot each other.
"That's a simple fact. I've seen a bullet wound and it was a mess. It was on a shoot and it scared me. Bullets have a nasty habit of finding their target and that's what's scary about them."
Nor does the 37-year-old share Bond's love of Martinis shaken and stirred.
"I love a Martini straight up. I don't think anybody makes a Martini stirred any more," he said.
Craig was unveiled earlier this month as the successor to Pierce Brosnan. He will play a tougher, grittier 007 in Casino Royale, which is based on Ian Fleming's first Bond book.
The movie is due for release in November next year.
Craig is not the first Bond to reveal a hatred of guns.
Roger Moore, who played the superspy from 1973 to 1985, said after quitting the role that he hated "that awful pose" of Bond with his gun which has become an iconic movie image.
The actor later became an ambassador for children's charity Unicef and declared: "Today I am completely opposed to small arms and what they can do to children. I played every role tongue-in-cheek because I don't really believe in that sort of hero. I don't like guns."
That's called GUN CONTROL...idiot!!!
Stuck on stupid
LOL! Thanks for the grins.
Is him scarded? poor widdle boy..James Bond? NOT!!! A kitty cat can not masquerade as a Bulldog..no suspension of disbelief is possible.
Not to worry, Bond's guns aren't real guns, they're fashion accessories.
Reminds me of when the producers set up a photo op for George Lazenby ("On Her Majesty's Secret Service"). Aussie Lazenby dissed his co-star, Diana Rigg and showed reporters what he didn't have on under the kilt he was wearing.
Seems odd to me how the hollywood types love to make money from their violent movies, and denounce us peaceful law abiding gun owners.
And thus shall his movie fail. hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha, and just for good measure, ha.
Paying public: No, Mr. Craig, we expect you to BOMB.
Then again, the best Bond, Sean Connery, is a gun-hating, left-wing maggot too, if memory serves.
James Bond v. `Dr. Strangelove'?
Not sticking around to see who winds up on top . . .
Good thing I'm done with my coffee today. ;)
Given the social mores and political environment of the times, then and now, it's a very good comparison!
I thought he was cool in "On Her Majesty's Secret Service."
And he doesn't smoke, and instead of seducing sexy female double agents, now he seduces sexy male double agents.
Hello, my name is Bond. Jimmy Bond.
So? Did he flaunt those views while playing the role?
I don't much care what they think. it's a free country and I put in my time trying to keep it that way.
The whole point is the business and political stupidity of alienating a very large and real chunk of your audience before you even make the picture!
Bring the 80 year old Sean Connery out of retirement. He's got more manhood in his little toe than this flippin pantywaist will ever have.
But I took the money anyway...

No women?
The most recent "real" James Bond film wasn't even a Bond film. The first XXX with Vin Diesel reminded me of the old Sean Connery Bond, played straight with just a hint of "wink, wink...aren't these explosions and props cool"!
All the recent Bonds have been wimps. I would watch out for Sean Connery in a bar fight, he might crack a poolstick over you from behind. Moore, Dalton, Remmington Steele Bonds would run out and cry for help.
I'd rather have Brosnan and his combover.
