Senator Slams Pro-Life Groups Criticizing American Girl on Abortion

Omaha, NE (LifeNews.com) -- A pro-abortion U.S. senator is slamming pro-life groups who have raised concerns about the American Girl doll company's partnership with a girl's group that backs abortion. Pro-life organizations have threatened a national boycott if the company doesn't pull out from its partnership with Girl's Inc.

Sen. Barak Obama, an Illinois Democrat, called the criticism and possible boycott and overreaction.

“It's just silly,” said Obama. “This is a classic example of overreaction and a lack of proportion.”

"An organization like this plays a vital part in making certain we are opening up our windows and letting our girls look upon the horizon and see which path they want to follow,” he said.

Obama's comments came during a speak to the Omaha, Nebraska chapter of Girls Inc., a group that helps girls with self-esteem and school-related issues but also supports abortion and the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision that legalized it.

Earlier, the American Family Association called on pro-life advocates to write to American Girl to ask them to end their association with the group and to stop selling their "I Can" bracelets. The Pro-Life Action League has threatened to announce a boycott if the association doesn't end by November 1.

Randy Sharp, director of special projects for the AFA, told the Associated Press his group won't back down and added that Obama is entitled to his opinion.

"Several years ago, when 17,000 aborted babies were found in a dumpster outside a pathology laboratory in Los, Angeles, California, some 12-15,000 were observed to be black."

--Erma Clardy Craven (deceased)
Social Worker and Civil Rights Leader

Minority women constitute only about 26% of the female population (age 15-44) in the United States, but they underwent approximately 36% of the abortions.

According to the Alan Guttmacher Institute, black women are more than 3 times as likely as white women to have an abortion

On average, 1,452 black babies are aborted every day in the United States.

This incidence of abortion has resulted in a tremendous loss of life. It has been estimated that since 1973 Black women have had about 10 million abortions. Michael Novak had calculated "Since the number of current living Blacks (in the U.S.) is 31 million, the missing 10 million represents an enormous loss, for without abortion, America's Black community would now number 41 million persons. It would be 35 percent larger than it is. Abortion has swept through the Black community like a scythe, cutting down every fourth member."

A highly significant 1993 Howard University study showed that African American women over age 50 were 4.7 times more likely to get breast cancer if they had had any abortions compared to women who had not had any abortions.

The Negro Project

Margaret Sanger's Eugenic Plan for Black Americans

By Tanya L. Green

"…I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing’
therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live."

--Deuteronomy 30:19 (NKJV

On the crisp, sunny, fall Columbus Day in 1999, organizers of the "Say So" march approached the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court. The marchers, who were predominantly black pastors and lay persons, concluded their three-day protest at the site of two monumental cases: the school desegregation Brown v. Board of Education (1954) and the pro-abortion Roe v. Wade "rights" in t he latter–converged in the declaration of Rev. Johnny M. Hunter, the march’s sponsor and national director of Life, Education and Resource Network (LEARN), the largest black pro-life organization.

‘"Civil rights’ doesn’t mean anything without a right to life!" declared Hunter. He and the other marchers were protesting the disproportionately high number of abortions in the black community. The high number is no accident. Many Americans–black and white–are unaware of Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger’s Negro Project. Sanger created this program in 1939, after the organization changed its name from the American Birth Control League (ABCL) to the Birth Control Federation of America (BCFA).

The aim of the program was to restrict–many believe exterminate–the black population. Under the pretense of "better health" and "family planning," Sanger cleverly implemented her plan. What’s more shocking is Sanger’s beguilement of black America’s créme de la créme–those prominent, well educated and well-to-do–into executing her scheme. Some within the black elite saw birth control as a means to attain economic empowerment, elevate the race and garner the respect of whites.

The Negro Project has had lasting repercussions in the black community: "We have become victims of genocide by our own hands," cried Hunter at the "Say So" march.

Nah, I just know that Studs will emerge from his Hyde Park mansion every so often to hobknob with the common scum and bitch about how unfair America is and then return to his mansion.

....from the 1st thread posted on FreeRepublic the other day.

They (GIRLS INC) also support and offer resources encouraging lesbian and bi-sexual lifestyles, actually offering resources for girls. One of their publications states, "The emergence of a lesbian identity is an ongoing process, rather than an event."

....I went to the GIRLSINC website the other day after reading the 1st thread, sure enough they had links to Planned Parenthood and a gay website. I returned this evening and they had removed both pro-abortion and gay links.

Guess they didn't want the parents to belive the rumor.

I think it is correct to view American Girl as a potent political force. They are more than just dolls. There are backstories to each doll, and lots of girls grow up reading the books and buying the videos.

Generally speaking, the books and stories are wholesome and life-affirming. But such a thing could be used as the ultimate under-the-radar way to influence young girls. Think of the way the Girl Scouts of America have been subverted over the years, and multiply that several times and you get the amount of damage that could be done if the Lefties ever get ahold of American Girl.

The forces of traditional morality should flex their muscles early and often and watch this group very closely. We should support them when they do right and hit them where it hurts when they do wrong. They are like a puppy with a hand grenade. Cute, but dangerous.

Because of the publicity this is getting it is very important that folks call and complain. This is a big, big test of the strength of the pro-life movement:

So they removed the lesbian links, eh? But too late, I read those links while they were still up. And they were completely inappropriate for girls still young enough to play with dolls.

A truth-in-advertising bracelet would read "I Can BE A LESBIAN."
