Top Bush Supporters Set to Launch Anti-Miers Ad Campaign

A 30-second TV ad is set to air tomorrow, Wednesday, that some believe may be as effective at helping stop the Harriett Miers confirmation as the Swift Boat ads were in helping stop John Kerry.

BetterJustice.org, a conservative grass-roots organization, created and funded the hard-hitting anti-Miers (but pro-Bush) ad. The organization's board of directors includes several otherwise staunch Republican stalwarts, such as David Frum and Linda Chavez.

"Miers is no more qualified to sit on the Supreme Court than I am to be a sumo wrestler!" So stated the so very un-sumo-like Ann Coulter.

Frum revealed his true colors long ago, with his smear of Pat Buchanan, which was undeniably an attempt to, as you say, "destroy another human being." But you were cheering on that attempt of destruction, as I recall.

Frum failed at that just as he will, hopefully, fail this time.

We are fractured, my friend.

No, YOU are fracturing yourself.

You say he has let you down.

I say he hasn't let me down.

I'd call that a draw.

Unless, of course, you think your views are more important than mine.

It may, but these uber-conservatives have now sunk to attacking Miers personally, and a national television ad campaign is just downright mean.

Reminds me of; after trashing Stalin on his death bed, Beria was the first to kiss Stalin's hand when Stalin temporarily awoke. We'll see the depths of their courage

It doesn't matter how high her IQ happens to be.

It did to the poster to whom I replied.

Pay attention, chief.

Not at all, but one of us must prevail. I was once your friend. I am not on this issue. At some point we will be friends again.

yes you are, in addition to being an ignorant fool.

The Executive is NOT elected by the "public" and is not subject to the whims of the "public" as per intent of the Founders. He is essentially a monarch for four years above public opinion also as per intent of the Founders.

Nominating Justices is NOT an exercise in democracy as per intent of the Founders. And the lunatic fringe of the lunatic fringe has NO say in this matter.

the RINO part?

Who are the RINOs, really?

Could it be those who pretend to be Republicans in order to influence the rest of us?

Could it be the ones on these threads who NEVER supported Bush in the first place and who have done nothing except trash him for the last five years?

All I read about is how "conservatives" made this party; and then I read "I'm a conservative first, not a party man."

Well, you all need to make up your minds; speak for your "branch" of the conservatives, i.e., the Wrist Slitters, but don't try to pretend you're speaking for ALL conservatives OR Republicans.

"The GOP needs to come out with a good counteroffensive. Something more serious than insults."

I got it, why not appoint a conservative jurist to the SC like Roberts and was promised? That will shut them up.

If you approve of this win-at-all-costs approach, for me a renewed friendship would be an open question.

Which part of the GOP do YOU want to keep...

And just so you'll know, I want to keep the part that ELECTS people to office so at the very least we'll have a CHANCE to appoint some judges.

If this Lynch Mob is "conservative" then all decent people will abandon them.

And I wonder even what Freeper you comments you are referring to. Please paraphrase.

You weren't talking to me, but one FReeper referred to Miers as a "waste of a human being" (and refused to recant when challenged). Another went way out of her/his way to imply that Miers is a lesbian because she is single and childless.

I don't mean to say that a majority of FReepers have been doing this, but there has been enough of this sort of thing to be noticeable. It's highly offensive.

We can disagree on this ONE thing without all of you all insisting it's the end of times.

It's his choice.

Support her or not.

Vote her up or down.

But, FGS, STOP telling us over and over how disappointed you are.
