Bond hates guns?

New Bond: I hate guns By This is London 25 October 2005 Daniel Craig will have a problem playing the new James Bond - because he hates guns.

The actor will wield 007's famous Walther PPK in the movie Casino Royale.

But he revealed in OK! magazine: "I hate handguns. Handguns are used to shoot people and as long as they are around, people will shoot each other.

"That's a simple fact. I've seen a bullet wound and it was a mess. It was on a shoot and it scared me. Bullets have a nasty habit of finding their target and that's what's scary about them."

Nor does the 37-year-old share Bond's love of Martinis shaken and stirred.

"I love a Martini straight up. I don't think anybody makes a Martini stirred any more," he said.

Craig was unveiled earlier this month as the successor to Pierce Brosnan. He will play a tougher, grittier 007 in Casino Royale, which is based on Ian Fleming's first Bond book.

I've seen a bullet wound and it was a mess. It was on a shoot and it scared me.

Well, if the people in charge of shooting are too incompetent to make sure they are using blanks instead of actual bullets (or if the actors are stupid enough to forget that even blanks are dangerous if used carelessly) he has reason to be scared. However, that doesn't seem to be what he's getting at.

(That said, I think that California's gun laws -- basically, you can't have one unless you can prove that you need it -- should be applied to Hollywood. Obviously, Hollywood doesn't need real working guns any more than they need real working phasers. Of course, then they'd have to spend more money on SFX, which is an intolerable imposition since it would affect the Elite[tm] rather than ordinary working stiffs.)

"I hate handguns. Handguns are used to shoot people and as long as they are around, people will shoot each other."

How strange.... I've shot what must be a hundred thousand rounds in my lifetime out of handguns. I've never shot anyone.

What am I doing wrong?

I remember a sharpshooter putting on an exhibition when I was a kid. He was great at hitting thrown targets.

Once he threw a large washer and said he would shoot right through the hole. Of course after he did it, someone suggested that he was just missing the whole target.

He had obviously used this as a set up because he then said he would just nick the inside of the washer and proceded to do just that.

I still think it may have been some sort of trick but not sure.

How am I suppose to enjoy the movie now? There is no way I can watch this guy blow stuff up and shoot guns knowing his true beliefs which contradict his role as James Bond. This is totally rediculous.

These new age sensitive men or Metrosexuals if you will, hate guns hate anything that shows an ounce of testosterone yet they love playing the parts. I think there is an underlying issue here. These girly-men would love to be a man's man. The role of the man on TV went from a strong leading man such as Magnum PI to a yielding passive sensitive dweeb like Ross from friends who's biggest on screen battle is going from his apartment to their local coffee shop

You can't watch a movie knowing that someone disagrees with a part of it? You don't do well with satire I take it?

He obviously hasn't read John Lott's book on how guns prevent crime more than 2 million times a year just in the US

The source of the "up to 2.5 million defensive uses per year" statistic is Kleck's famous study done back in 1986. Lott's study focuses primarily upon the effects of concealed carry legislation on violent and property crime rates.

Can also assume he will ride in a bus as well?

After all car crashes kill more people and do a messier job at destroying the human body in so many different ways,(mangling, decapitation, burning... use your imagination)

Or at the least obey the speed limits at all times

I don't care all that much if an actor doesn't like guns, heck I don't even care if he is queer as long as he doesn't go around like some and make it their cause.

When he uses his role in a movie to make statements like, "I hate guns", then it does bother me and I think of it when watching.

LOL! That's like the magician's gag of putting cups over the balls, announcing that he's changing the balls' color (tap, tap, tap), announcing that he's changing them back (tap, tap, tap), then showing the balls, then proceeding to do the actual trick.

Ross, and for that matter the other males on FRIENDS, are what you want your sons NOT to be like! Of course I could throw in George Costanza, Kramer, and just about every male character on TV in the last twenty years.
