New Bond: I hate guns By This is London 25 October 2005 Daniel Craig will have a problem playing the new James Bond - because he hates guns.

The actor will wield 007's famous Walther PPK in the movie Casino Royale.

But he revealed in OK! magazine: "I hate handguns. Handguns are used to shoot people and as long as they are around, people will shoot each other.

"That's a simple fact. I've seen a bullet wound and it was a mess. It was on a shoot and it scared me. Bullets have a nasty habit of finding their target and that's what's scary about them."

Nor does the 37-year-old share Bond's love of Martinis shaken and stirred.

"I love a Martini straight up. I don't think anybody makes a Martini stirred any more," he said.

Craig was unveiled earlier this month as the successor to Pierce Brosnan. He will play a tougher, grittier 007 in Casino Royale, which is based on Ian Fleming's first Bond book.

Imagine, all you have to do is fire a gun and the bullet does all the thinking! Kinda like a pocket Patriot missile! Who knew?

This new Bond actor acts like a little girly-man.

And so it goes. This is what the once proud British Empire has come to? Wimps and girly-men. Sad.

He is a very good actor so I doubt it. He has already played a drug dealer in Layer Cake. I haven't seen the entire movie, but the smart money says he had to use a pistol in it too. And lets not forget what Ari Gold, superagent, had to say about actors. "Yeah, and Hilary Swank has a vagina, but she won an Oscar pretending she has a dick. That's what actors do. They pretend."

He obviously hasn't read John Lott's book on how guns prevent crime more than 2 million times a year just in the US. He doesn't know that they are rarely fired, that just the sight of a gun in the hand of potential victim stops the criminal cold most times.

But of course he wouldn't know that, believe it or let it stop him from his smug, self-righteous, condescending and cliched, "liberal" fantasy.

I've seen this guy in some BBC productions. He'd be okay to play some "real-world", John le Carre-type spy, but I can't see him as the Hollywood handsome, very public secret agent 007.

What an Ass. Does he hate knives too? And cars, and fires?

I bet he doesn't hate terrorists.

I've obviously wasted decades on sight picture and trigger pull.

Nor does the 37-year-old share Bond's love of Martinis shaken and stirred.

Any writer who doesn't know that Bond drinks his martinis "shaken, not stirred" should not be writing this kind of item. For the record, the Bond "martini" recipe from Casino Royale:

"Three measures of Gordon's, one of vodka, a half measure of Kina Lillet. Shake it very well until it's ice-cold, then add a large, thin slice of lemon-peel. Got it?"

I warned something like this would happen.

I demand that the House of Lords reject this nominee. He has no experience in international spying. How do we know he isn't going to turn into another Roger Moore.

Now he's even worse than a Roger Moore. :-)
