The Untold Story: Joseph Wilson, Judith Miller and the CIA
Accuracy In Media ^ | 10-24-2005 | Cliff Kincaid

Posted on 10/24/2005 12:11:18 PM PDT by inpajamas

The savage left-wing attack on Judith Miller from inside and outside of the New York Times completely misses the point. She is under attack for being a lackey of the Bush Administration when she failed to do the administration and the public a big favor. She could have done a potential Pulitzer Prize-winning story that could have broken the Joseph Wilson case wide open. It is a story exposing the Wilson mission to Africa as a CIA operation designed to undermine President Bush.

For 85 days in jail, Miller protected her source, Lewis Libby, Vice President Dick Cheney's chief of staff, but the fact remains that she never used the explosive information Libby gave her. Now we know, according to Miller's account, that Libby told her about a CIA war with the Bush Administration over Iraq intelligence and that he vociferously complained to her about CIA leaks to the press. But Miller decided that what Libby told her was not newsworthy. Why?

Ya know if Wilson's report was thought to be false, another investigator would have been sent.

I would imagine that by that time Cheney said for the CIA to cut it out.

Iraq yellowcake:

note: this takes us up to 1998 when the inspectors were kicked out.
Our troops found tons of yellowcake in Iraq in 2003.

Brit intelligence still maintains the Niger story is true - which is all GWB said in that State of The Union speech.

If a CIA staffer turned up rotting on Roosevelt island, would Syria be blamed?

both failed miserably

They may think it a success if they can get Rove or Libby. But if they do, they also will have to face the court. Rogue elements of the CIA secretly pursuing a RAT agenda can hide it from the media, every branch of the executive, and even the President. But they cannot hide it from a court and that includes officers of the court acting as defense attorneys for White House officials who were dragged into it by the CIA's war on Bush.

Good afternoon. Sorry, I'm off topic, but this thread reminded me...

On either 14 July 2003, or 17 July 2003 a network reported that a C-17 departed from Baghdad airport with 2.5 TONS of uranium hexafluoride (yellow cake) to the U.S., Savannah River if I recall correctly.

I can't seem to find that network and report right now...

"It is a story exposing the Wilson mission to Africa as a CIA operation designed to undermine President Bush."

I've been saying it for months. It's the only scenario that makes any sense at all.

What I do think needs to happen is a specific FIRING of all CIA people who were there during the Clinton administration. I don't trust ANYONE who served that crook and if they're still in the CIA, then they're more than likely adversaries of this administration!

"Sounds like Italian, French and English intelligence were all over this."

Doubtful that we would accept anything but our own efforts in something this vital to avoid being taken in. Tenet [CIA] must have had his own confirmation to brand it a 'slam dunk'.

I believe we are going to find that his source is something ridiculous like...he looked up their marriage certificate.
>>>>

Then Novak would be lying in his own column. He did mention that his source was Senior White House aides who were "no partisan gun-slingers".

If it is as you said, then his column was a lie.

If what you said is not true, then the next logical question would be -- who are these Senior White House aides ?

I'm just wondering.... If Miller had no real reason to go to jail because she already had a release could it be that she chose to go to jail because it's safer there?

I mean, with the CIA involvement in trying to bring down the President of the United States, what if Miller had stumbled on some evidence of the wrong doing on the CIA's part... Wouldn't she want a safe place to set out everyone else's testimony and then come in at the last minute with her explosive evidence?

Not to mention that he lied about who sent him to NIger in the first place...it wasn't Cheney as he asserted.

is it just me or does it seem a bit disingenuous for the press to act so concerned about whether or not a clandestine officer is outed at cia? since when did they care about such a thing? they are so pathetic. and valerie plame is a joke. the fact that she's part of our CIA is in itself laughable to the whole western world.

Not only did he say it was the British government, he also used the word "sought" not "bought, as Joe Wilson said in his column.

16 Words

"The British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa."

Good post. Jill Abramson used to be a reporterette for the WSJ front page, as I recall. She has always written liberal articles, IMO. I have always thought she had a liberal agenda.

We removed tons of yellowcake from Iraq. Over 150,000 tons, to be exact.
