Category Three Major Hurricane Wilma is barreling toward the Southwest Florida coastline. The storm is packing wind speeds of 125mph, moving NW at 20mph, with an enormous eye 65 miles in diameter. Landfall is anticipated shortly in Collier County between 6:00 and 7:00AM ET.

Storm surge flooding of 9 feet to 17 feet is possible along the coast near and to the south of where Wilma makes landfall. Storm surge of 5 to 8 feet is predicted for the Keys. The storm has spawned tornados throughout the Florida peninsula since yesterday evening.

MIAMI (AP) -- Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center say that Hurricane Wilma's outer eyewall has started hitting Florida near Marco Island.

Checking in from Juno Beach/Jupiter. Starting to blow pretty good. Probably gusts nearing 50mph. Very little rain - my patio isn't even wet.

Local news has the eye over eastern Palm Beach County in a little over 5 hours from now.

Not looking forward to the eventual power outage.

Movement over the previous 53 minutes - northeast (44 degrees) at 25 mph. This puts Wilma 25 miles southwest (237 degrees) of Marco Island and 33 miles south-southwest (210 degrees) of Naples.

Channel 2 Orlando says Wilma will exit at Jupiter, the same place Frances and Jeanne came in last year.

Local news has the eye travelling over Sewell's Point/Stuart on it's way out into the Atlantic. That would be amazing to have 3 hurricane eyes pass over you in 14 months.

Good news folks, as good as can be expected. The eyewall is fitting near perfectly into the concave shoreline of SW Florida. That means max winds at Marco and Naples are coming from onshore, instead of driving the surge inland. Not much but it's something.

We had some dimming but came back up. The PC never lost power. Thank God for the surge protector.

Been out of the loop for several hours. Neighbor down the street started having chest pains and called. I went over- took one look at him and called 911. EMT arrived packed him up with O2 and an IV and off to the hospital. His wife has emphysema and was a wreck so I sat with her til her daughter arrived a few mins ago.

Rain heavy here- gusty winds- torando warnings everywhere in the area.

Going to get a cuppa REAL coffe- neighbors had INSTANT. There ought to be a law..

Some serious exploding transformers in my neighborhood. (Mid broward close to 441). The sh*t is starting to hit the fan here,wind wise. I'll probably be moving my family into our "safe" room. I shoulda left to my sisters house earlier, nice shutters all around.

Looks like this will be the worst storm to hit here since Andrew, and I remember that one quite well. This wont be as bad overall, but it sure is bringing back some bad memories..
