Zawahri urges Muslims to aid quake victims

Al-Qaida’s second in command Ayman al-Zawahri urged Muslims to help Pakistan’s earthquake victims despite the country’s close ties to the United States.

He was speaking in a video aired on Al Jazeera television on Sunday in which he sat next to an assault rifle.

“I call on all Muslims and Islamic charity organizations in particular to go to Pakistan and give a lending hand to the victims there,” Zawahri said on the tape. "We all know that (President Pervez) Musharraf's government is an agent of the United States but despite that I call on all Muslims to run to the help of their brothers in Pakistan."

Zawahri and al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden, believed to be hiding in the border region between Pakistan and Afghanistan, have eluded capture since the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks on the United States, carried out by al-Qaida.

Dev Six got some good posts to his thread he put up around 9:56.

For the Muslims, what goes around comes around.

Pound for pound I'll bet the Great Satan's CH-47s hauled more weight then the other individual countries involved did, other than Pakistan itself.

Found this at the "english.aljazera.net/HomePage"

However, agents of America are standing in our way to help our Muslim brothers in their distress.

"Today, I call on Muslims in general, and on Islamic relief organisations in particular, to go to Pakistan and help their Pakistani brothers and withstand the troubles and harm they face for this purpose."

"We all know the raging American war against Islamic charitable work."

More evidence that Al Qaeda is running a little low on cash these days and can't siphon off funds fast enough from the "peaceful" Islamic charities to run the terrorist network.
I'm surprised it took them 2 weeks to come up with this revenue-producing scheme. Even FEMA ain't that slow. What's next, Casinos for the Pakistan/Afghanistan border area? Looks like it's easier for Zawarhiri to blame bush after all...

Go help means "take women and children and set up a tent near a big mountain cave". You can hide weapons there. The people will not know which side you are on and use their ignorance against them. They can be pack mules for you through the mountains with the weapons. They will be grateful for food and water. They will think you were sent by Allah to save them.

Zawahri urges Muslims to aid quake victims

Given that's Ramadan and Muslims are, basically, pretty cold-hearted, what would he have them do - fly over and drop a gross of Korans on them?

He talks as though he's not in Pakistan. Of course, I would not expect him to say "come to Pakistan".

Is it just me or is this *STRONG* evidence that we are winning the war on terror?

When a terrorist stops using his favorite weapon..... terrorism..... things are not all that they seem in the land of oz.

Now all of a sudden he's a merchant of peace and helping?

Perhaps this is just a ploy from him to the american media. I can already hear the cries of how that evil bush administration is targetting this man of peace.

Z hasn't lost his desire to kill infidels, but he is trying to become respectable. This softer image has been showing up for a while now in his tapes and letters. Zawahiri is becoming the good cop to Zarqawi's bad cop persona. I think he would like to become an Arafat, and be able to come out of hiding. Not a chance, doc.

And, yes, he has funding trouble. And, about the two week delay, it takes to time get your tapes/letters to Al Jazeera when you have to use a donkey.
