Amnesty Blames Israel for Arab Abuse of Women
Israel National News ^ | Oct. 21, 2005

Posted on 10/21/2005 9:29:30 AM PDT by Alouette

(IsraelNN.com) Amnesty Israel has blamed Israel for honor killings of Arab women who have been abused by other Arabs, according to Alan Dershowitz, a Jewish American author and Harvard University law professor. "Palestinian women...are victims of multiple violations as a result of the escalation of the conflict, Israel's policies and a system of norms, traditions and laws which treat women as unequal members of society," Amnesty reported.

Dershowitz wrote, "The report places substantial blame for these and other killings on--you guessed it--Israel...The report asserts that violence against women has 'increased' dramatically during the Israeli occupation and has reached 'an unprecedented level' as a result of the 'increased militarization of the Israeli-Palestinian confrontation.' It is as if the West Bank and Gaza Strip had been violence free for Palestinian women until the Israeli occupation."

LOL, the absurdities against Jews and Israel know no limits. Thankfully Dershowitz is criticizing Amnesty International over it.

Dershowitz is reporting on the Amnesty claim. He is NOT making the claim. He's a Lib, no question abou that. But he is stridently pro-Israel.

If it's not Bush's fault, it's got to be Israel's fault.

Dershowitz isn't criticizing Israel, he's criticizing Amnesty Intl.

Correct. Dershowitz may be a lot of things I don't care for (liberal, arrogant), but he is not a self-hating jew nor a jew hater generally, and his comments are being misunderstood.

Karl Marx came from a family of observant Jews

Karl Marx was baptized as a Lutheran as an infant. His parents were not observant Jews.

Amnesty ceased to be an organization of any credibility years and years ago.

What a load. It used to be that Amnesty International was a valued and serious organization. Before the loony left took over

I read Dershowitz's book "The Case for Israel", he gets it, at least about this subject. Of course, he's now been excoriated by the left, gets death threats and is not welcome on college campuses.

The current and previous popes have both attempted to stamp out a hoorid little heresy called "liberation theology," but it still thrives. This Amnesty International complaint sounds very related to liberation theologians, who insist that being a "victim" of "economic imperialism" relieves people not only of culpability, but responsibility for their actions.

Sometimes we confuse Liberals with Leftists. Liberals, the few that remain on the national scene, are not the enemy. We may disagree with them on approaches and the scope of government, but their goals are not necessarly evil even if they are often misguided. But there is no middle ground with the radical left. They are out to destroy all that we and the traditional liberals hold sacred. It's a shame that more Liberals do not see that basic fact.

you know, as a non jew, i am frankly amazed at how many jews hate judaism. dershowitz is just a known name. watch for people to buy this hook line and sinker. btw, alouette if you say jews dont hate judaism, then please tell me why some jews are always blaming israel for such things as this?

Ever since Enlightenment, we witness retreat of religion --- all religion. Jews are no exception: there are great many that have been born into Jewish families but are no longer Jews in the sense of being religious or even abiding by traditional values.

They are no different from those that are born into Christian families, however. In Europe, there are only 5-9% Christians that attend churches. In Amsterdam, there are 11% Christians and 12% Muslims. Western press and public discourse are venomously anti-Christian. The European constitution has refused, even after prodding from Vatican, even to acknowledge the role of Christianity in the history of Europe.

What you say is true but applies not only to the Jews but to Christians as well.
