So why hasn't the NYT said it? /sarc

It will heal. The question is, how long will it take?

Too long, and we're walking wounded.

So it's possible that many will not turn out.

Do you think that "real, true" conservatives NOT showing up to vote will come as a big surprise to the Republican National Committee?

They sat home in 2000 and didn't come out in any greater numbers in 2004; word in D.C. is that Rove, et al., didn't even count on them in the run up to 2004 because they are so DAMN UNRELIABLE.

Always pouting about something. Always putting THEIR myopic agenda before the country's.

Let 'em sit home.

Anything could lead to the impeachment of President Bush. The Left has been looking for something for months - anything. And their fellow leftists in the media - Hi, Chris Matthews - have been helping them.

Actually, I'm warming up to the idea of actually HAVING a trial.

Let's put everybody under oath and see who lies first.

Yep.

I'm going to have to return to arms.

I was a blogger of some minor note during the last campaign, but then more or less quit afterwards. I'll have to gird myself for battle again, regardless of what's going on. This is going to be hard.

We're all going to have to commit ourselves to this fight 110%. Last year, I was so committed to seeing this President re-elected and America saved that, frankly, I wasn't sure what I was going to do if he lost. Now, I will not abandon him. I will never abandon this President and his vision.

We must all be of a combative spirit.

To borrow from the greatest man of the last century - we must not flag or fail. We must fight on to the end, whatever the cost may be.

Ironically, he is a staunch supporter of the President.

Have a little faith in the basic intelligence of the American electorate.

You're forgetting just how close both Al Gore and John Kerry came to being POTUS. Intelligent electorates don't flirt with disaster like that.

If the public is going to learn the "actual facts" about that statement, somebody is going to have to be able to find where and when Wilson said it.

Do you think the evangelical Christians will ever look at the movement elitists in the same way again, or trust them?

I suspect much motivation was sapped because of that selection. So it's possible that many will not turn out.

That's pretty damned dumb, don't you think? Take out your ire about Bush on your congressman?

If anything, this will serve to remind those "dissidents" among the conservative movement of just who the enemy is.

I can tell you're new here, because you still "believe" that "real, true" conservatives will do the right thing for the country.

Having been here since 1998, I can tell you for certain that there is a small group around here who ONLY want their tunnel visioned myopic agenda put forth and if they don't get it, they could care less if the GOP goes down in flames.

They think having Hillary as president will, once and for all, teach the GOP a thing or two.

Go figure.

I've been around for a while. I fully know about the "true conservatives" here, and elsewhere. I was around in 2000. Remember - the Buchananite die-hards only amounted to a tiny percentage of the population. As they did last fall, when some told us so much about the wonders of the Constitution Party,

So looking at this from a strategy point of view...

I believe that to some extent the Democrat base was suppressed in 2000 due to a certain amount of uneasiness with Clintonian antics.

But conservatives where a little lukewarm as well. We were fired up by 2004 and so were they. But we did better.

So if we lose the pouters this time, but they are fired up because they see an opportunity...(assuming they won't blow it and that is actually assuming a LOT) couldn't that really hurt us?

I know it's rampant speculation. And a lifetime a way. But if the election was held tomorrow. oof.

Not to worry my friend. Rush Limbaugh has been and will remain the greatest defender of the President when he is attacked by liberals and their media whores. I do not care about idiots like Kristol and Will, they do not have 20 million listeners like Rush. The GOP and vast majority of conservatives will rally again with the President and they will go and vote in huge numbers in 2006 because they know the disastrous consequences of not doing so. I have faith in the GOP and the vast majority of conservatives even those who are opposing Miers, at the end they are going to defend the President and work hard on defeating the liberals on the polls and outside the polls.

"We face, as I've said before, a conspiracy between the media, the Democratic Party, and certian elements of the judiciary - all of whom have, for all practical purposes, become enemies of the United States.

We need to recognize the danger. Republicans aren't Democrats - the weak sisters among us will fold under pressure."

Exactly. You hit the nail on the head.
