NYT FRIDAY: Rove and Libby have been advised that they may be in serious legal jeopardy, but only this week has Fitzgerald begun to narrow the possible charges. The prosecutor has said he will not make up his mind about any charges until next week, government officials say... Developing...

I would gladly see Bush taken down as a result of a Rove-Libby indictment. It would serve him right for stabbing conservatives in the back by nominating Harriet Miers.

The prosecutor has said he will not make up his mind about any charges

So the press is only guessing? (hoping?)

This is an unmitigated disaster and could ultimately lead to the impeachment of President Bush.

Bush? What has he got to do with any of this? Sheesh!

This NYTimes article is puzzling. It starts out by saying Rove and Libby may be targets, but also says Fitzpatrick hasn't made up his mind about bringing charges. On second read, the article is less certain than first glance leads you to think

Earlier in the investigation, Fritz said Rove was not a target. Other than that, he's said nothing to anyone. I think the press is just praying to their Gods right now, hoping to create an illusion of reality.
I'm not going to freak unless something bad actually happens.

"Rove and Libby have been advised that they may be in serious legal jeopardy"

Call Ken Jennings and Alex Trebek to help them out.

There are no false "pretenses" just false beliefs as to what constitutes political realities.

"The most recent example:: After Ray Nagin cussed Bush out on national TV, GW made no less than 8 trips to New Orleans."

And who looked like, and turned out to be, the bigger man? I applaud the President for ignoring the ankle-biting and going about his business.

It's what a President should do.

Oh yeah...that will put an end to this political game Is that meant to be sarcastic? An action like that will only inflame the anti-Bush people even more. It will be a terrible thing for our markets and our economy if the Government, all branches, is brought to a dead stand-still while this mess works itself out. As a small business owner, I don't have the luxury of deep corporate pockets to sustain me while waiting out "bubbles" and "recessions". How many people do? Consumer confidence is at its lowest point in 12 years. Without Americans feeling like things are improving - or at least going to improve soon - they have a tendency to keep their dollars in their pockets. Higher fuel bills are really making folks think twice about things like ... umm, dental visits, car repairs, getting the roof done, basic stuff done without a thought in good times. The Beltway Boys were talking last night about the really negative effect that a Bush "dead duck" Presidency will have on the markets. If Bush fires Fitzgerald, pardons Rove and Libby, and declares that he's throwing the whole investigation into the trash can, what hay can his opposition make from that? Plenty. It was only seven years ago that the Republicans were supposed to be the "party of Laws" and stand on the principle that "even the President isn't above the rule of law." Maybe some of us have enough socked away that we can withstand a prolonged economic downturn. A good many of us don't. If Rove and Libby are innocent, it would be brain-dead of Bush to pardon them - better to let the judicial system do its work and prove them innocent.

So, new ID, Mr. Buchanan? With all due respect this is one of the more asinine statements I've read on this thread. I'd ask you how taking Bush down benefits us and the country as a whole but I won't because people with this screwed up mindset can justify anything.

The problem with you and your ilk is you're too quick to let good be the enemy of perfect. And you're willing to sh!t on yourself in the name of "principle". I really wish this statement of yours was simply an overreaction buy sadly I'm sure you really meant.

I wish you were on the other side. Your logic--or lack of it--fits them perfectly. Perhaps you can resurrect the Reform Party and then shuffle off into a corner where no one sees you.

If I had been alive during the Vietnam War, I know one thing, I wouldn't have been involved in the anti-war movement. :)

I do however have an uncle who volunteered for military duty in the Army, and fought at Cam Rahn Bay. His name didn't come up in the draft, so he volunteered. I'm very proud of him, and all the men and women who fought and lived to tell about it, and those who fought and "gave their all".

"This is an unmitigated disaster and could ultimately lead to the impeachment of President Bush."

What is interesting about this comment when a Yahoo search is done on it, this basic comment has been used for years whenever the leftwing and their so called real conservatives are trying to electronically coup our President.

Below is the Yahoo link which shows how this BS remark has been used over the years with a lie is spun to damage President Bush.

Well .. how about the liar-in-chief - Wilson himself. He has told whopper after whopper about him and his wife. If anybody should be in legal jeopardy - it should be Wilson.

You sound like someone who thinks being voted into power means forcing the opposition (in this case about 49%) to like whatever choices are made, or lump it.

There will be no smaller government in the near future, because too many people don't want it yet. No need to scare them off right now. We will convince them and make changes incrementally and show them why these are good ideas, not just because we can make them lump it.
