CBS 3) PHILADELPHIA Philadelphia Democratic City Councilman Rick Mariano was threatening to jump from the top of City Hall Thursday evening.
The councilman climbed to the top of the north tower just before 6 p.m. and refused to come down.
Mayor Street and several other representatives went up to the tower to reason with the Councilman.

PHILADELPHIA -- A city councilman is vowing to keep his seat and defend himself if charged in an ongoing federal investigation of his finances.
Rick Mariano and several businessmen friends received target letters this summer from federal investigators looking into the councilman's financial dealings. Prosecutors typically send the letters to people who are going to be indicted.
"If and when an indictment comes down, the councilman is prepared to vigorously defend himself in the court of law. And he has no intention of resigning his office," Mariano's spokesman Frank Keel said Wednesday.

Dumb Goombah playing the race card. Luckily, with the demographic changes in his district, he can be replaced by a sane Vietnamese immigrant.
Your comments and similar comments from others are in really poor taste. Even if we dislike Mariano and his sleazy brand of politics, he is still a human being and deserves our prayers at a time like this. Pro life means pro life and urging him to jump -- even if in jest -- really isn't funny and makes you look like an ass.

I saw it. I just looked up his district. It's kind of broken up and I'm not sure if I'm in his district or district 10.
When you see a headline like that these days, you have to check the source to see if its a parody.
The shot I saw didn't look like there was glass where he was standing. I may find out more. Chopper 3 works out of the airport my son works at.
