I use to be a liberal and socialist. From age 15 to 17. Essentially because in those developing years a child goes through this disappointment that the world is so unfair. But then one grows up and comes to terms with reality. Yes, life isn't always fair. Some people are lucky and get rich. And most others work really hard to get that way. And good for them. The point is socialism/liberalism is a philosophy for children. Even Marx acted like a child. He never had a job. He sponged off his father, his wife's family and Engels himself.

An old saying goes...
A young may who is not a Liberal has no heart
An old may who is not a Conservative has no brain

Mark Twain?

Wonderful post, takes the old standby 'if you are not liberal when you are young, you are missing a heart; and if you are not conservative when fully grown, you are missing a mind' and details it, beautifully.
