This could fit a lot of empty suits. (e.g.: Gore, Frau Klinton, sKerry, Herr Klinton, Chuckie Schumer, Little Dick Durbin, Diane Fineswine, Barbra Boxer, Senora Pelosi, etc. etc. etc.
It isn't just liberals that do this. Just like at the response any time somebody expresses doubt about W's spending policies or his choice of Miers.
And the MSM actually asks, Are Americans getting ruder? Of course they are. They've been taught since they were tiny toddlers that wonderful indoctrination called Self-Esteem. I am special. I am not wrong, just misunderstood. I have needs. III, Mememe, Mineminemine. It's no wonder they behave so rudely as adults. Don't you understand that they are THEY?
As I'm fond of point out self-esteem is a vice (one of the Eight Grevious Vices catalogues by St. John Cassian in a work of that title, which can be found in the first volume of The Philokalia if you have a set handy--the other seven are familiar to Western Christians as the Seven Deadly Sins).
AMEN!!!!
GIMME GIMME GIMME!!!!!!!1
"What can you do to fulfill my needs?"
Nobody could know what this fool wanted. Perhaps he wanted the goobermint to provide him with a woman, groceries, liquor, etc.
Of course the communist hillbilly-rapist from Arkancide had a litany of goodies that he, as president, would provide. If the twit had asked for a woman I feel certain Billy Goat would have promised one.
Bush I just kept looking at his watch and wondering quietly how much longer he'd have to sit beside Bozo.
"Where's MY stuff?"
And don't forget the eternally offended Michael Newdow, whose own life is filled with so much misery that he feel obligated to share it with everyone.
I'm fine with manger scenes as long as the public space is open to other religions putting up displays during their holidays. If the option is open to everyone, then the state is not showing preference to one religion over another.
Why anyone wants to fly a flag of a loser army that fought for slavery is as mysterious to me as Nazis in the punk movement are.
Taking offense is a big money-making venture these days. I doubt there are a lot of actual offendees but a lot folks are making good dough spreading the notion that there is.
Absolutely. Teaching self-esteem is teaching pride, the first deadly sin. I touched on this subject with my 7th grade religion students last year. They were surprised to hear that pride (pridefulness) is sinful. I'm thinking of calling it "hubris" this year, since the English word "pride" has changed meaning. It seems to mean more a feeling of accomplishment. While the sinful pride is exalting self over others or holding self as equal to God.
Sounds like this column was addressed to you.
This forum has become a platform for a lot of whining, that's for sure. I refer to them as the Bickerings.
This is the WHOLE LIBERAL MINDSET! The left's psyches are so fragile everybody is required to walk on tippy-toes around them. I'm sick of it and I agree it is a major part of what is wrong with America.
When the left found out they could control the courts (hundreds of years ago) the assault against the Constitution began.
I'm shocked this article came from the Sierra Times though. I thought they were pretty liberal.
Its a very liberal town but I find it interesting when you bring up our military, President Bush, Dick Cheney, Carl Rove, Rush Limbaugh or Fox News how quickly they hate.
I believe that the "STATE" should have nothing to do with my home, my organization, and my little village. That "loser army" you refer to is about to rise again and the only thing that will be left of this Socialist United States will be the Northeast Corridor, the Great Lakes, and the Pacific Coast. The rest will return to the original concept of freedom and personal responsibility as created by the founding fathers.
