"I have also learned, Mr. Speaker, that in September of 2000, again, over 1 year before 9/11, that Able Danger team attempted on three separate occasions to provide information to the FBI about the Brooklyn cell of al Qaeda, and on three separate occasions they were denied by lawyers in the previous administration to transfer that information. "

So let me get this straight. Before say a Colonel can provide life and death information to an fbi agent, the Colonel must first be screened to have the information he wishes to pass be deemed legal or illegal by attorneys for the fbi?

No wonder they got away with it and thousands died on 9-11. The lawyers are in charge rather than the people we elect to protect us from terrorists.

The Constitution provides that the armed forces of these United States shall protect and defend us. The Constitution of these United States provides that the President of these United States (Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces), and the Congress of these United States shall protect and defend us from all enemies.

If there is any truth to Able Danger, then we have some traitors that need to be tried and fried. We should begin with the lawyers who refused to allow the info be passed...and then on to those who should have known better than allow some dill pickle faced lawyer prevent them from saving the lives of thousands of their fellow American citizens.

No way no how.

So what has happened to Lieutenant Colonel Shaffer, Mr. Speaker? The Defense Intelligence Agency has lifted his security clearance. One day before he was to testify before the Senate Committee on the Judiciary, in uniform, they permanently removed his security clearance. And now our Defense Intelligence Agency has told Colonel Shaffer's lawyer that they plan to seek a permanent removal of his pay and his health care benefits for him and his two children. Why, Mr. Speaker? Because Lieutenant Colonel Shaffer, like Commander Scott Philpot of the Navy, like J. D. Smith, and like a host of other Able Danger employees, has told the truth.

Very Clintonesque. Looks like the Bushes don't want that rock to be overturned. I wonder why?

Rep. Weldon talked about "previous administration holdovers......"

i was turning the channels, stopped on CNN( iknow, i know) and Dobbs cos Rep.Weldon was going to be on...

his last comment was that the information about Able Danger was forewarded to Goerelicks top gun, and they refused to admit the evidence.

God i wish i wrote down what he said, but that was the just of it

Hmmmm....I wonder how a Duncan Hunter/Curt Weldon team sounds for 2008? Don't know Weldon's trade philosophy though.

It would be cool to see the GOP not ceding industrial states like Pennsylvania to the rats. I've heard the Pennsylvania described as Philadelphia and Pittsburgh separated by 250 miles of Alabama.

Thanks for posting this.

This is an appalling story. It just goes to reveal how deep the rot has set in.
