I'm fixing to prevail.

You want to do it by destroying the party because you're having a snit fit.

Remember that when Hillary is president.

You fools have been against him from Day One.

You just sit around and wait for something to bash him with.

For the life of me, I can't think of just exactly how you are different from the liberals or the MSM.

And I'm not fixing to be a martyr. I'm fixing to prevail.

Yeah, that's what the Brits who tossed Maggie out said as well. How long has it been now since they've been in power?

No many how many times you say it, the majority of people on this forum are FOR Miers or FOR waiting for the hearings.

I've been around since '98, have worked to get Bush elected, and am now rightly criticizing him. There are a whole lot like me on this board.

Sure there are newbies too, just like whenever we have an intense discussion. Some of them are hotheads, but many make good points - on both sides of the debate.

The value of FR comes from the quality and clarity of ideas posted, not the seniority of the poster.

This latest episode is difficult, but it could prove to be useful. If President Bush were to wake up and a) do something about spending, b) make some, ANY solid enforcement of immigration laws, and c) make a point of having Miers NOT stonewall the committee hearings (as is the current fashion), he'll be well on his way to getting back in good graces with the base that got him here.

Is that where you guys really want to go?

No! Which is why these disagreements should be aired now. Or would you rather have Conservatives be like some of the Democratic plantation dwellers. Vote right and shutup, is not the answer.

Well, I can think of one way in which they differ from the liberals and the MSM: They're more elitist! :-)

Have you read any Dowd columns? I have. And PEG is reading exactly like them.

Did I expect this of her? NO, I would have hoped for better from her. Do I think this has split the base. No.

When I read the above column from PEG, and I listen to the President, who do I believe and trust? That's a really stupid question, with what PEG NOONAN has put on the record, in the above.

I want the party to win.

Remember that when Hillary is president.

I'll blame the party. It was the GOPs fault for letting that pipsqueak Perot get over on them. It was the party's fault for letting Clinton beat Dole, one of the most honorable men in the country. I spent many hours canvassing and cajoling.

But in the end? The party is responsible for its results.

Please don't isolate your insults to the NE - we're everywhere:)

Was referring to a location where many of the pundits reside.

I don't believe Bush's critics are in the majority. You have less share of voice; it's just that your volume is turned up - what with the help of microphones and columns and all. JMO

Bush is no Thatcher or Reagan. The conservatives in this country are demanding that the party that ran and won on conservative principles also governs to conservative values. What is the point of having Republicans in power if they advance the liberal agenda quicker than the democrats???

Think about it, when Clinton was in power and the Republicans controlled congress spending was in check and virtually none of the liberal agenda was advanced. We had a balanced budget and even got welfare reform passed.

When Bush took office, we ended up with a prescription drug benefit, limits on political speech, and out of control government growth/spending. The Republican Party in control of the house, senate, and executive branch of government has turned out to be a disaster (from a conservative perspective)as there are no checks in place!

Why don't you look at the Freeper poll big guy. A plurality is against the Miers nomination. You BOHICA Bushbots are the splinter group.

You don't have to shut up, you just have to be decent about it. Stabbing President Bush in the back while he's under the gun is the most sickening thing I have ever seen.

Good grief, just look at what this country has gone through the past couple of years. Look at what he has had to put up with and overcome. All he has asked is that we trust him until the hearings and then make up our mind, but that's apparently too much to ask. How can you debate something when you know nothing about the person you are debating about? Common decency demands that people wait until the hearings, but apparently that's too much to ask. Suddenly this party is behaving like the democrats with their constant Hate Bush rhetoric. It's become stupid, mindless bashing.

A plurality is against the Miers nomination.

You need to look at it again.

More people support her or for waiting to hear than are against her.

Of course, that is one of the problems you malcontents always have had -- overestimating your importance.

Bush is no Thatcher or Reagan.

Says you. The history books will say something else.

As to the cost of the prescription drug benefit, let me ask you something. If you get an infection and the doctor gives you anti-biotics that cost $100 changes are it's over and you get well. If you don't get anti-biotics and the infection goes systemic and you go to the hospital and the charge is over $5,000. Which is the most effective use of taxpayer money? The $100 for pills or the $5,000 for the hospital stay?

It was the GOPs fault for letting that pipsqueak Perot get over on them.

Actually, it was the very people who are B*T*HING about Miers that handed the party over to Bill Clinton.

The people who LOVE being satisifed with NOTHING as opposed to something.

It was the party's fault for letting Clinton beat Dole, one of the most honorable men in the country.

And who in the HELL do you think DID NOT vote for Dole because he, too, wasn't a "real, true" conservative?

You cannot rewrite history. It's the same damn group, over and over, always blackmailing the party with their votes, always "trying to teach the GOP a lesson."

Well, you want a fight -- and you got it -- with your own party. Happy now?

No he has asked that she be confirmed. We have asked that she not be, because there are better candidates.

What additional information do you suppose is out there to make her look more judicial?
