In 1986, George W. Bush reached a crisis point in his life and changed what wasn't working. He dug deep and got serious. He got humble. He questioned himself. He can do it again, and should.

I would think that question is not out of line, since this is Forum format, no matter how long one has been here.
For that matter, how long do you think is enough time to ask that question?
You're giving just as good as you're getting.
Try not to be such a martyr.
Care to check the scoreboard in the Rove vs. Noonan battle for being a Presidential Advisor? No?
Too bad. You've put yourself into a position to be slammed. So here goes.
Rove has a 98% winning percentage (or perhaps higher) for his political clients.
Who are some of Rove's clients? Both senators of Texas and the President of the United States. None of whom have lost an election while Rove was their consultant.
Who was the architect behind the Republican takeover of Texas? Rove! While he operated here, every elected office at the Texas state level was seized by Republicans.
Who designed the strategy for increasing the number of Republican seats in the U.S Congress each of the past three elections. Go ahead. Say Peggy. I double-dog dare you. But if you do, you'd be wrong. It was Rove! Such a political feat has rarely --- if ever --- been accomplished in the history of this country.
One final question: Are liberal prosecutors working feverishly to indict Peggy? No? Gee I wonder why? Could it be because she matters little in national politics? Could it be because liberals have no fear of her? Could it be because she has never been involved in defeating a liberal democrat in anything?
Think twice about doubting Rove's political prowesss. He has amassed a significant, winning track record in the political life of this country's history. It will be a long time before some other political consultant will top his achievments.
I've noticed how these "friends of conservatives" are ALWAYS the ones who mention the drinking problem.
Apparently it is you who is "split."
don't understand how that happened.!! the reply was meant for Blackirish #34
I'm not optimistic, but one can hope.
Quite honestly, I'm having a great laugh at those who respond to their own hyperbole with such righteous objection. It's so very humorous with the hyperbole they've already flung.
She continues to disappoint.
The pundits/fools in the NE need to realize that they don't speak for the majority of the people who voted for Bush.
Get off his back Peggy.
Bump.
and I haven't seen even half of the people who are here now bashing President Bush.
I appreciate the compliment.
And I'm not fixing to be a martyr. I'm fixing to prevail.
All your base belongs to FR, but only if you signed up prior to this year - LOL.
That's just shrill and silly. W screwed up and split his base (unintionally). You can go ahead and blame the plurality of Freepers, call them traitors, RINOs, Bunchananites, etc. Regardless, I hope Bush can put the genie back in the bottle by dumping the mediocre Miers.
But I can usually make a bet on who will come on here to defend her. And then we have the additional problem with the "pundits" who will have her on their chat show and pretend not to know what she's already written.
I don't remember republicans turning on him though even though we are still suffering the results of some of his actions.
I haven't seen this kind of thing since the stupid Brits turned on Maggie Thatcher and the result was they have been out of power in Britain ever since. The conservative movement there is completely and thoroughly dead. What few Tories remain make McCain look like a John Birtcher. Is that where you guys really want to go?
What about us fools from the SE who are on Bush's back??? Please don't isolate your insults to the NE - we're everywhere:)
And now you're trying to wreck the GOP because of YOUR tunnel vision and one issue agenda.
You probably never supported him in the first place.
President Bush is fighting the terrorists, the europeans, the leftists, the media and now some in his own party. Still, he continues to do the right thing.
