then back to dreary NY State weather.

As if that weren't enough, I heard Steve Doocy say this morning on Fox that there's a fairly even chance that Wilma will cross Florida, pick up steam from the Gulf Stream, and go knock on Long Island's door....

That doesn't happen all that often.

Laurita, congrats on the upcoming promotion!!

Now you're gonna have the stripes to back up the responsibility you've shouldered for the last year...

Near as I can tell, it couldn't have happened to a more deserving soldier.

You're welcome. I'm sure a lot of Canteeners will want to pay tribute to this great American hero.

Yupper, we are going to be getting the rain coming this weekend. Ugh. Upstate got Hurricane Hazel in the 50'S. I remember it well. Wind blew our barn roof into another county.

I had a ham sandwich before work.

Conservation of Intelligence.

Like matter there is a fixed amount of Intelligence in the Universe.

Intelligence cannot be added to or detracted from, it can merely change heads.

Intelligence is not fixed for life. Smart people sometimes do stupid things.

It flows in and flows out.

Number of people on the earth make a difference. Unfortunately but true, when the population drops the over all intelligence of people tends to rise.

After the epidemics or wars where there is a big drop in population there is usually big advances in achievement in other areas of the world.

Renaissance followed the plagues of the middle ages. 200 years of progress in education, architecture, art and music and literature.

Similarly following WWII , rapid advances is science and technology here in the US.

Currently population on the earth is at a historic high and there is a vast amount of stupidity. Entire areas of the planet wallow in stupidity.

There is an innate awareness that intelligence flowing away. Look at the groups of peoples that insist on head gear of some type. It is an attempt to hold their remaining intelligence so they do not become as dumb as a stump.

Atmospheric conditions affect the flow of brain strength. Everyone has witness the stupidity of drivers in the rain. They will take risks on slick pavement that they would not take on dry.

Enough?

It's like sex Jinxy...

Every generation thinks they discovered it.

In every generation some group of boys will discover methane is explosive.

Thank you! Now you're gonna have the stripes to back up the responsibility you've shouldered for the last year...

That's exactly what my old platoon sergeant said (almost word for word) when I emailed him and told him about it. I probably deserve it a little more than some and a lot less than others, but my number came up and all I can do is put on the stripes and be the best NCO I can be.

So many questions, where do I start? Okay...

Our house is sold, closing 11/15, if theirs sells. We haven't found a place to buy yet, but we have friends who will put us up until we do.

Nana is doing fine, she's coming down off an asthma attack...something she hasn't had to worry about in over 45 years!

Piper is a treasure - she got scared by thunder the other day and had Mommy call Daddy so that he could make it stop. When Piper found out Daddy couldn't do that, she asked Mommy to call Poppa to make her feel better! We talked for a minute or two, I reassured her that the thunder was outside and wouldn't hurt her, and she was all better! At age 2...

Nana's parents were married on November 25, 1950. I don't know if that was Hazel or another one, but she nearly kept Nana's dad from getting to the church. Not just on time, but at all. The wedding was late, but the marriage was nearly perfect.
