The Cards had a great season and we'll miss Busch Stadium. I've been there several times and my family has it's roots in Missouri.

Congrats Houston, I get my (second) wish and get to see The Rocket vs the White Sox in the World Serious.
First wish was Red Sox - Yankees.

This is great! What is the skinny on the Astros versus Chicago....I haven't followed baseball this year.

Jim Wynn hit three home runs the first time I ever went to the Dome. I think that was in 1968. Been an avid fan ever since.

I remember going to the Colt 45 games and how hot it was, and then came the Dome.
Air conditioning..how sweet it was!
I am "Houston Proud" tonight.

Love Nolan. I saw him throw a no-hitter against the A's in Oakland in, uh, 1990 or 1991. It was awesome. I sent my ticket stub and a nice letter, and he signed the ticket and sent it back before I got the initial delivery receipt from FedEx. A classy guy ... he was getting ready to report (it was the following February).

I thought it was silly how every pundit has been talking about Cards momentum from that Pujols homer. If you're sending Oswalt to the mound, the momentum is with you. This is why I said the other night, even after Prince Albert's homer, that the edge was still with the Astros. One word: Oswalt. In his two games in this series, he was positively Gibsonesque. And that's about the highest praise I could give.
If Oswalt did not win the MVP of this series, there ought to be an investigation.

ping for later reading. Heck, I waited 40 years for this. Maybe I should just bookmark it.

It could be VERY cold in Chicago in late October. That might favor the White Sox slightly at home. Houston is pitching very well right now and pitching is all important in baseball so I'd give the edge to the Astros. Houston probably has more veteran leadership with guys like Roger Clemens and Andy Petit on their team.

Thanks for that. I used to live at Great Lakes Naval Training Center on the lake near Chicago. I have never been as cold as I was there! Went to highschool in the early 60's and it was 15 below most winter days when we picked up the bus.

Isn't it funny that it took 45 years for the (former) Colt .45s to make it to the World Series? Almost karmic.

I had some business meetings at corporate HQ in Chicago once in late October. I had flown out from California and brought my ski jacket and hat just in case. Turns out I needed the jacket and hat the second day out there when the temperature dropped to 52 degrees and the wind picked up. Not exactly baseball weather...LOL. Well as long as it doesn't snow, the series will be great. Maybe some of the long-suffering Cubs fans can convert to Sox fans for two weeks. I hope Chicago wins but I think Houston has the edge.
