Court issues warrant for DeLay, sets bail:

AP By William L. Watts

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- A Texas court on Wednesday issued an arrest warrant for former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas, and set his bail at $10,000 in a routine step before his first court appearance on conspiracy and state money laundering charges, the Associated Press reported. The issuance of the warrant is "a matter of routine and bond will be posted," DeLay attorney Dick DeGuerin told the A.P. The lawyer said DeLay would make his first court appearance Friday morning. DeLay, who remains a member of Congress, relinquished his leadership post last month after being indicted on a charge of conspiring to violate state campaign finance laws. DeLay contends the charges are politically motivated and that he will be vindicated at trial.

No comment to my knowledge but then I've not looked for one specifically from him.

Same here. I think I'll look around....will let you know if I find anything.

His mugshot is going to plastered all over the MSM.

This is what the Dems wanted all along. Doesn't matter if the charges get thrown out; DeLay is damaged goods now thanks to the liberal media and risks losing his seat in 2006 and a Presidential or Senatorial run is definetly out of the question.

Hi. Welcome to FR. Bump in the road. The prosecutor should have waited to the spring to drop this.

Delay will be back to haunt you.

I beg to differ. I think the 'all out war' has already started. The DimocRATS are just too stupid to realize it yet. I trust that doesn't include you.

I've been saying that for some time now. Even Rush mentioned how, since they can't manage to win an election, their only option has been through the legal 'injustice' system and the courts.

Republican leaders need to be more like DeLay and Rove and get some BALLS. We need to push for legislation that disables bs like Ronnie Earle is pulling. And we need to make an example of Ronnie Earle and 'fix' him so good that Dem attorneys everywhere will think twice before trying to ruin someone's career based on partisan dirty politiks.

AND we need to be inundating our representatives with our emails and letters protesting this 'travesty in Travis County'.

"What is a neutral judge"? Someone, R or D, who did not contribute to such a RADICAL organization like Moveon.org???

You will not get a change based on that.

Yes, I know they are fictional characters but I thought if I used an example like Jesus of Nazareth that the fundy Christians on this board would get bent all out of shape.

Well.. frankly.. the progression from fictional characters who "become stronger" by dying as in the case of Obi Wan. To likening Tom Delay to Jesus "becoming stronger" by being crucified. Doesn't inspire much hope about Mr. Delay's situation or the nature of benefit he might gain from this experience.

However, despite the examples, it may very well be a correct point that you are making. I think the best example thus far, at least until just this last few weeks, has been George Bush. George is relentlessly smeared by enemies and sometimes it takes months, sometimes years, but eventually the truth crawls out and George is vindicated.

It takes faith, something the enemies of Delay and GWB and folks who are under attack every day with lies and unfair charges. Bill Bennett, attacked by folks claiming he said something completely backwards of what he actually said. It takes time for the truth to make it into the clear. And it takes folks who insist both on finding and exposing the truth, but also calling the liars out and holding them accountable for their misdeeds.

This has been too often the issue, that the big lie has no consequences because they cry, lets "move on" that battle was yesterday. Its time for Justice.. justice is what we are starting to crave, and justice is accountability for lies and crimes. Its time to stop "moving on."

Man, I'd like to know that, too! Is the Ft. Bend sheriff Milton Wright? If so, is he the same sheriff that got into it frequently with Jon Matthews prior to Matthews indecency problems?

It is Wright but I think he and Matthews were OK with each other. On the other hand DeLay, in what I think was a petty move, backed Wrights opponent because of a personal problem he had with Miltons campaign manager.

Well, they tried to avoid a fight over the court, but it looks like we will have a fight one way or the other.

Personally, I like our chances with Delay much better. I don't think he will buckle like the Rinos in the Senate.

He may be just the man for the job.

I came across this article from 05/08/02:

http://www.fortbendstar.com/Archives/2002_2q/050802/boomer050802.htm

What do you think Duquesnay was leading up to about Chief Deputy Craig Brady? Who was Milton's campaign manager?

I've been so disgusted with seeing the corruption in Louisiana; hate seeing it here, too.

Like they say...making sausage and politics...pretty much the same...

It's happened to me many times and is frustrating!!! That's why I spelled it out! I especially hate formating a big long article and then having the thread pulled because I was a few seconds late.

I like your scream name.
