MEG, thanks for the nice compliment, and thanks so much for sticking with it and getting your comment posted. Yes, FR is painfully slow today. I am having a terrible time replying to all the comments on this thread. It is taking me forever!
But, the good thing about it is, the thread is going to run through tomorrow, so I have time. Still, it would sure be nice if things were to speed up a bit. LOL
You sure can! That would be wonderful and very much appreciated.
They should address their comments to scubachick, his wife. She probably won't be logging on for awhile, with all the excitement of the homecoming, but she will get her pings eventually. I know she will be touched. :-)
Afternoon, Gail. Hope you dressed warmly for our excursion to Alaska. ;-)
Ladies and gentlemen, please stop by and welcome home the hubby of Scubachick from his tour of duty!! This hero deserves our gratitude and appreciation! Please addresss your comments to Scubachick!! Thanks!!
(Hopefully she'll get to read these when the place isn't crawling! LOL)
Thanks for all the great photos and comments you are contributing. I love it when the locals come and participate on the state threads.
I wanted to post in the presentation about the iditarod, in fact, I had found several nice graphics that I was going to use, but I ran out of space and had to settle for a link to an excellent idiarod website. As it was, the presentation was getting way too long. There is just so much to say about Alaska!
BTTT!!!!!!!

Okay! Okay! Okay! ;)
Seriously:
Scubachick, please thank your husband for his service to our country -- and give him a big hug welcome home from all of us!
God bless those who serve, love, and support our country!
Yikes! Driving that road must a harrowing experience on a good day, let alone when it is covered with ice!

I think they fixed it..Speedy posting again..Hoo ray!
Well, a cruise is a nice way to see Alaska, but, of course, there is much you miss. I think that all the cruise lines offer cruise/tour packages, so you can see the ports, but also Denali, White Pass, etc. They are expensive, but what a great experience to be able to go on one of those!
Another good (and much less expensive) way to experience Alaska is through Michener's epic novel "Alaska". I read it before we went on the Inside Passage cruise. It really helped me appreciate more what I was seeing. The history of Alaska, especially the period of Russian colonization, is so interesting to me.
After you have read "Alaska", I guarantee, you will HAVE to experience it for yourself someday.
I took the iditarod pictures and Denali. The bears were from a coworker. At the race we thought we were doing well with folding lawn chairs. Then this pickup drove up with the sofa. Their kids enjoyed it.
